Having two daughters, I have always found STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) to be highly important in their lives. Not just for them, but any and all children. To me, it creates a pathway for the future,

STEM is important because it pervades every part of our lives. Science is everywhere in the world around us. Technology is continuously expanding into every aspect of our lives. Engineering is the basic designs of roads and bridges but also tackles the challenges of changing the global weather and environmentally friendly changes to our home. Mathematics is in every occupation, every activity we do in our lives. By exposing students to STEM and giving them opportunities to explore STEM-related concepts, they will develop a passion for it and hopefully pursue a job in a STEM field. – Engineering For Kids

Mand Labs has launched a new DIY learning kit for hands-on learning in electrical and electronics. The kit has been built after 4 years of research and closely working with 15,000 students! As it’s flagship product, KIT-1, helps kids to learn, create and hack electronics in less than 30 minutes.Mand Labs hopes to inspire and empower more American kids and makers get interested in STEM and Electronics through its innovative DIY kit

KIT-1 comes bundled with all required hardware and electronic components of industrial grade quality, two guidebooks, step-by-step building instructions and interactive learning videos required to build an array of 60+ projects, all packaged inside a box that opens up into a personalized vertical workstation. Ideal for makers, educators and students alike, it is designed for anyone, even without the basic knowledge of electronics, to bring their ideas to life. Whether glowing the LED, beeping a buzzer or creating a burglar alarm, KIT-1 will allow you to physically play, understand and build things with a little imagination and creativity.

While you can quickly assemble any circuit on the bread board using the step-by-step visual instructions, KIT-1 also allows you to build projects in less than 30 minutes. The instructions in the interactive videos and guidebooks empower you to self-learn at your own pace and enjoy the process of building circuits from start to finish.

Kit one is for everyone (over the age of 14). It can be great for homeschool, robotics club, teachers, and even hobbyist. My daughters had a wonderful time figuring everything out and watching lights blink or a fan turn on. We were very impressed by the size of the kit and how much was packed inside. Adult supervision (in my opinion) is required, obviously depending on age and maturity level. However, that being said, it was just as fun for the adults and creates great bonding time.  With over 50 experiments (divided into 3 levels), we will have plenty of things to figure out.

Be sure to check out the New York Toy Fair 2018 from February 17-18. Mand Labs will be in booth #5959. Some of the interesting projects that will be on demo at the fair include: Controlling home lights using a clap, casino game lucky 7, IR security alarm system, temperature sensor, automatic night lamp among many others.  If you ever wanted to do electronics and hardware, KIT-1 is all you need for a real kickstart.
