So I came across this advertisement on Facebook last week for a product called YALA. It’s a coconut oil based mouthwash. I clicked the link and it took me to a beautiful website.
I reached out to the owners of the company, Dr. Aaron Schwartz (a pediatric dentist in Atlanta) and Daryl Weber, an author and brand consultant, to learn more about this product. They were super happy to talk more about it.
The term is ‘oil-pulling’ and apparently, it’s been around for over 3000 years. Swishing with coconut oil whitens teeth by removing stains. It works without those nasty chemicals found in traditional tooth whiteners. Cool, huh?
Also, YALA has essential oils blended in, that help further promote a healthier mouth. Plus the essential oils make it taste great. Xylitol adds a hint of sweetness that can also help kill bacteria that causes cavities. Dr. Aaron talked a lot about the oral health benefits of xylitol and suggested that expecting parents should consider xylitol products (like xylitol chewing gum or YALA) as it helps prevent spreading bad germs to our newborns. Super interesting.
The packaging is beautiful and well designed. The tube is very portable. You can keep it in your purse or car or shower etc…
YALA is a very thoughtful product, designed for busy people who want to add a natural, chemical free routine to their own oral health regimen. The best part is that a portion of proceeds goes towards dental charities that aid in access to dental care for low-income children. Buying this mouthwash sounds like a win-win to me!
Now is your chance to win your own YALA product!
