Sears Outlet: Pandigital Kitchen Technology Center Review

As I mentioned in my post about the Ultra Plus Laundry Soap Review, I had the opportunity to stop in at the Sears Outlet store in Nashville, Tennessee while I was traveling over the holidays.   I had a great visit and was very impressed with the wide selection of home appliances that were available.

All of my appliances were new three years ago when we bought our home and I really didn’t need any big appliances, so I was offered the opportunity to review the Pandigital 15 in. Kitchen Technology Center.  I had actually seen this as one of their daily deals back when we first started working with Sears Outlet, so I was pretty excited to get to the store and check it out.

About the KTC from Panditigal: Let the KTC from Pandigital make your Kitchen the true center of your home. My Thoughts: There are a couple of things that really intrigued me about this kitchen center.  The KTC has internet capabilities and you are supposed to be able to stream RSS feed, weather, news etc…  It is set up to use Windows Live FrameIt, unfortunately Windows Live discontinued this service at the end of the year (2010).  I am waiting to hear back from Pandigital so that they can help me reconfigure the center to use another service.  Once I get this part working, I really think it will be something that my hubby will love!

The other thing that I thought would be really useful is that the Kitchen Technology Center comes with a preloaded collection of Bon Appetit Recipes but even better is that you can load all of your recipes onto your kitchen center so that they are available right at your fingertips!  No more of this (and I have drawers stuffed full of the same random printed recipes):

Now I can just load any recipe that I want to save, right into my recipe book that is stored on the KTC.  No mess and completely organized!

I also like that you can pop your camera card in or memory stick and use the slide show option on your own large digital frame or you can stream your Picasa photo stream to your screen!

While all of these are fantastic features to have in a Kitchen Technology Center the biggest hit is the TV feature for the kids and I am seeing a lot of this every time I am in the kitchen:

Overall I am pretty pleased with the Kitchen Technology Center but I do want to mention that if you are not tech savvy (and I am not particularly) this may be a bit frustrating for you to get set up.  That being said, it can be done – even by those of us that tend to freak out a little bit when having to tackle anything techie…    The manual that is written by Pandigital, is not that helpful and the customer service also leaves a lot to be desired.  If you are looking for a multi-function kitchen center, do not pay full price for it – you will definitely want to get it from Sears Outlet.  It would not be worth the $400 that Pandigital suggests it sell for.  Unless of course, you ask the kids – they think it is absolutely priceless!

I received excellent customer service from the Nashville Sears Outlet Location and want to say a special thank you to the staff and Managers that helped me out.  I had a couple of issues with the KTC that they were so helpful in getting corrected.  The employees were friendly, smiling and very accommodating to me and I greatly appreciate it!  If you are in Nashville, be sure to stop by and check out the fabulous stock of appliances, and the soft squishy beds (I was so tempted to strap one to the top of my car and drive it the three + hours home – if only it hadn’t been snowing)!  If you don’t mind… give them a big hello from me too!

  1. Wow! I have not seen these. I too have tons of recipes scattered about. Sounds like even though you had a bit of trouble the Sears price makes it totally worth it…and your drive :)!

  2. Very cool! I’ve been pricing gadgets to clear some cookbook clutter lately… this looks great. Question though; what file format do you need to have your personal recipes in when you add them to the KTC? My husband is curious {before we decide to drive to our local Sears Outlet}.

  3. My brother suggested I might like this web site. He was entirely right. This post actually made my day. You can not imagine just how much time I had spent for this info! Thanks!
