My two boys are obsessed with electronics. While we limit their time, I hate to constantly have to tell them to turn off the sounds to their devices because I know the sound aspect is a compelling reason why they want to play. We had the opportunity to review the Sakar’s Kid-Friendly Headphones.
Available in two sizes to fit ages 3-6 and 7-10, the Kids-Safe headphones come in wide range of the hottest character brands. Toddler-size options include Hello Kitty, Barbie, Batman, Spider-Man, Thomas the Train and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The larger, pre-teen size comes in Barbie, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Monster High, Spider-Man, My Little Pony, Hello Kitty, Batman, Dora the Explorer, SpongeBob SquarePants, Superman and the Avengers designs.
Large, full-range drivers deliver rich sound, including crisp highs and warm, clear bass tones, for an immersive listening experience. The built-in volume limiter throttles back volume to approximately 80 percent of the original maximum, to a maximum output of 85 decibels. Thick, comfortable padding on the lightweight ear cups provide ambient noise isolation, which contributes to a lower volume listening experience. The adjustable padded headband ensures a comfortable fit for kids of all sizes.
The Kids-Safe headphones are compatible with any device with a 3.5mm stereo jack output, including all models of iPod, iPhone, iPad, Android smartphones and tablets, portable gaming devices like the PlayStation Vita and Nintendo DS series, as well as laptops, PCs, CD players and home audio systems.
My take: Since my 19th month old daughter has no idea how to use headphones, we were sent the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Kid-Friendly Headphones:
Immedialty upon taking them out of the package, I was impressed with how much padding was around the ears and the top of the headpiece. These headphones are super light and are adjustable so both of my boys can easily use them. Now for the real test, the 8 year old plugged the jack into the iPad and I listened with relief at how less loud the volume was turned up at maximum level than the headphones he had been using prior to this. He loves the “cool turtles”, while I love the lightweight and volume limiter aspects.
Sakar is generously offering 1 lucky MommyPR reader their very own pair of Kid-Friendly Headphones!
