ANAHEIM, Calif. (Sept. 7, 2010) – Disney villains will invade Disneyland park along with Mickey Mouse and his friends in Halloween costumes when Halloween Time returns to Disneyland Resort Sept. 17 through Oct. 31. Highlights of the Disneyland Halloween season include the return of Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy – the thrillingly “haunted” version of the popular Tomorrowland attraction – and the longtime favorite Haunted Mansion Holiday, in which Halloween and Christmas collide for an attraction inspired by “Tim Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas.” Guests will also enjoy the new, nighttime water spectacular “World of Color,” performing nightly at Disney California Adventure park.

Halloween Time offers families a chance to enjoy seasonal attractions and décor, as well as interact with beloved Disney characters decked out in whimsical Halloween costumes. Guests will also experience spooky fun with Disney’s more sinister characters, the Disney Villains. In addition, the private-party celebration that has been so popular with guests will return for 10 special nights in October as Mickey’s Halloween Party.

Moving to Disneyland this year with a new name, Mickey’s Halloween Party is the separate-ticket event that invites adults and children to dress up in costume and trick-or-treat at the resort. This nighttime celebration is scheduled for Tuesdays and Fridays in October (1, 5, 8, 12, 15, 19, 22, 26 and 29) plus Halloween night itself, Sunday, Oct. 31. Highlights include:

Trick or Treating in the ultimate Disney neighborhood, with even more treats along “Mickey’s Hide-and-Go-Treat Trails”
New dance parties – at Tomorrowland Terrace and the French Market
The “Halloween Screams” fireworks spectacular, hosted by “Master of Scare-omonies” Jack Skellington (presented exclusively for guests of Mickey’s Halloween Party)
New surprises in “Mickey’s Costume Party” cavalcade, performed twice nightly
Character photo locations featuring Mickey and his pals, princesses and other favorites
The opportunity to arrive three hours before the party starts to play in Disneyland
Nearly all the favorite Disneyland rides and attractions

Tickets purchased in advance for Mickey’s Halloween Party are $49 most days, while tickets purchased on the event days are $54. For Oct. 31, all tickets to Mickey’s Halloween Party are $59.

Favorite Disney characters, including Mickey himself, will dress up in their favorite costumes. It’s the ideal environment to have fun, eat special holiday treats, play interactive games, listen to “spirited” music and watch a nightly character cavalcade that celebrates the season.

For Halloween fun at Disneyland, guests will enjoy Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy in Tomorrowland. The experience begins as a typical Space Mountain adventure, but suddenly launches voyagers into a haunted section of the universe. Ghosts appear out of the starry darkness and swirling galaxies of Space Mountain, reaching out as if to grab guests as they speed through space. The exhilarating drops and curves of the journey are punctuated by piercing screams, creepy sound effects and haunting music.

Jack Skellington also returns to take over the Haunted Mansion and bring back Haunted Mansion Holiday to New Orleans Square in Disneyland. Transformed to a mix of Halloween spookiness and Christmas tradition, Haunted Mansion Holiday is inspired by the classic animated film “Tim Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas.” Jack and his friends provide plenty of havoc and surprises as they celebrate the holidays in their unusual style. Jack’s return to the Haunted Mansion includes the traditional Halloween/Christmas gingerbread house in the Mansion Ballroom, with some special spooky surprises in this year’s design.

Halloween Time offers frightfully delightful fun for children and adults.

For spine-tingling fun, drop in at The Twilight Zone™ Tower of Terror at Disney California Adventure park, where a “supernatural” event happened on Halloween evening, 1939, forever haunting the building.
Main Street, U.S.A. in Disneyland is transformed for the Pumpkin Festival. More than 300 pumpkins will be on display in shop windows and none of them are the same!
Visitors to Big Thunder Ranch in Frontierland will find ranch animals, pumpkin carvers, Halloween décor and activities for youngsters, all presided over by Sheriff Woody.
Meeting Disney characters will be easier than ever as Disney villains gather to plot Halloween mischief at “it’s a small world” Mall in Disneyland, while other characters in spooky attire greet guests in Town Square, Main Street, U.S.A.
Rancho del Zocalo in Frontierland will honor Dia de los Muertos/Day of the Dead with traditional skeleton figures on display Sept. 19 through Nov. 2.

When i knew my husband was coming home i knew that meant hiking, traveling, fishing, and vacations. We do alot when he is home and a stroller was not going to cut it. I had seen some nice baby backpacks but really did not know much about them.

Deuter offered me their Kid Comfort II. On the website it looked nice, in person, it was amazingly comfortable! It arrived and i thought i would have trouble getting Ariel into it willingly and just getting it on myself. Mind you i had never used one before and my husband had not arrived home yet. So if i fell over, i was on my own. I was a little worried but got her in easy, she was able to buckle her self up, i made sure they were secure, and started on my side. Now i sat down on the floor to do it. I buckled all up and slowly stood up. I could not believe how light it felt with her in it. It was more than easy to use.

It has so many pockets and zippered compartments, i really don’t even know what you would use them all for. The padding in the waist and back part for the adult is very sturdy and feels almost like memory foam. The little bear you see in the picture actually comes with it too!

When my husband arrived, sure enough he wanted to go for a walk through the woods. By the way, Ariel can of course walk just fine, but you know how toddlers get after a while, its easier to have a backpack ready to carry them. Well we started up the hill, and about 2 hours later she was still good to go in the backpack. My husband was just fine as well. He said at one point he forgot she was back there lol. We went up and down some steep hills, through trees, etc and that backpack was just fine with her.

Would I buy it?- Yes

If you are looking to invest in a good quality baby backpack, the Kid Comfort II is a great choice. I would add that if you plan on purchasing this one, buy the added rain/sun hood for it.

The food mill is easy to use. All you have to do is remove the grater and place the cooked food in the stem or cup section of the mill, replace the grater and you are set to go. You just push down on the bowl section while you turn the handle of the grater. As the food is processed, it moves up into the bowl

My Thoughts: I have just recently been giving my oldest daughter a little more responsibility in the kitchen and have given her the job of preparing dinner for the family one night per week. You Can Cook is exactly what we needed at this stage of her kitchen training and takes her beyond something warmed up in the microwave! The book explains healthy eating, defines fruits, veggies and kitchen equipment. Your child will learn everything from how to boil an egg to how to prepare Chicken Tikka Masala! The recipes are appealing to all members of the family and my daughter really likes that she can pick something and prepare it all on her own (mostly). Overall You Can Cook is a perfect starting cookbook for your child and the family will love having these tasty recipes prepared for them (especially the mom)!

Voskos Greek Yogurt Review & Giveaway

Have you ever heard of Greek yogurt? I haven’t. Whole new world for me. I like yogurt just about any way you can have it. Pair it with anything and it tastes good. Plus it doesn’t hurt that its good for you.

Now first off Voskos had some superman shipping. It was here lightening fast, and ice packed down. No wasted space either (which i hate). Great job on that.

Voskos Greek Yogurt sent me a case of every flavor, yet when i opened the fridge i seen only plain, plain, organic plain and vanilla. Not only had my kids ate all the flavors but there was my husband chowing down on a Honey flavor one. So what was the verdict?

My kids- They pretty much loved it. I have never seen them eat so much yogurt. I am talking put Dora or Spongebob yogurt in front of them with Voskos, and they would choose the Greek. I was shocked.

My husand- he didn’t like the plain, but did like the honey and vanilla bean. Then again i am just surprised he picked up anything with the name yogurt in it…without the word pizza. ha.

Me- the Organic vanilla bean was by far my favorite! It was so good. Since there was a good bit of organic plain and natural plain left i decided to mix up my own flavor. I added pampered chef’s mocha and hazelnut sprinkle and mixed it up. OH YUM flipping YUM. So good! I ate 3 in one day. It taste so rich. I cant explain the difference in organic & natural yogurt vs dairy processed yogurt. Its just so smooth and creamy. Very creamy.

Adapting a centuries old Greek style straining process, Voskos Greek Yogurt was the first Greek yogurt to be made in and sold nationally in the United States. Voskos Greek Yogurt is high in protein, and naturally low in carbohydrates and calories. Even our non-fat Greek yogurts are naturally creamy, smooth and thick!
Hormone free milk from local dairies is delivered in special insulated milk tankers to keep it cool and fresh. When the milk arrives it is pasteurized to ensure the milk is safe. Milk is then pumped into special tanks where ’friendly’ bacteria (also known as yogurt cultures or live and active probiotic cultures) are added. This friendly bacteria ferments the lactose (the natural sugar in milk) turning it into lactic acid. The lactic acid sours the milk causing it to thicken, and form it’s the characteristic creamy texture and mildly tangy taste associated with our yogurt. Our yogurt is then cooled to a temperature where the bacteria are no longer able to grow. The yogurt is stirred and strained to make it thick and naturally creamy. For some yogurts, the yogurt is then gently mixed with fruits to make non fat fruit Greek Yogurts. The yogurt is then poured into cups and packaged ready to be enjoyed by our consumers.

My take: This clothing came packaged very cutely. I was immediately impressed with the softness of the material. The orange color is muted and is great for a boy or girl! Absolutely charming.

I am always on the lookout for new hair items. Between my 2 daughters and I, we all 3 have different hair types. Nothing that we have, can we share because what works in my hair, doesn’t work for them.

Ariel has super thin baby hair, Jasmyne has this course hair and its thick. Me, mine is just dry damaged old woman hair (ha!). Our usual hair items consist of pony tail holders, bobby pins and some clippies if we can get away with it.

Sears Outlet Center: Char-Broil Gas Grill Review

It has been quite awhile since I have last posted about Sears Outlet. I can sum up why in a short sentence- We have been way too busy enjoying our new Char-Broil Gas Grill from Sears Outlet.

Before I even got into blogging I asked my husband what were his top items for me to review and one of the top 3 was a grill. We have been married for almost 6 years and have only used the itty-bitty circular grills you put on the floor. We were never able to justify spending money on a quality grill when we could use the money for the kids, the house or my student loans.

If you remember my first visit to the Sears Outlet Store in Louisville KY you will notice I immediately focused in on an amazing grill from Char-Broil, retail price was $329, outlet price $229 but they were having a red eye tag sale and it was listed for $197.93. I took pictures of this grill and was kicking myself for not just buying it. I went online and didn’t see the grill on the outlet center page for Louisville. I doubly kicked myself when my husband even admitted that was an awesome price for such a big grill.

Long story short, I submitted my request for reviewing a grill and just happened to call the Louisville store and to my great delight they informed me they had 6 of the grills that I had seen during my first visit (despite in not being on the outlet Internet site. Once everything was finalized I was so excited to pick up the grill. My dear husband was even more excited as he put the grill together once the boys went to bed. (Wouldn’t you know that was a night that the 4 year old didn’t fall asleep until after 9 pm). In no time at all a beautiful grill was assembled in my living room and moved outside the next day.

The next night the grill was given its first test- steak, hot dogs and hamburgers. It surpassed all expectations and we have been using it 3+ times a week. I love it because it allows my husband to do more cooking, it doesn’t heat up the house in the humid, warm weather like the oven would, and because of the great price. My husband says it is great to grill on, super fast and he only wishes the grates were stainless steel instead of porcelain but given the great price he has no real complaints.

As always I was so impressed with the cleanliness, friendliness and overall professional aspect of my local Sears Outlet Store. I am amazed at how many new items they have since my last visit. A new section of books were present that I spent a long time looking at and I happily purchased a Toy Story and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse HARDCVER book for a total of $10.00!!! I was amazed since the boys are HUGE Mickey Mouse and Toy Story fans and those books are never that inexpensive.

I also loved the vast selection of patio furniture they offered. The last time I visited there was only one set. This time I counted 7 full sets!

Other things that caught my eye: a Hoover Cordless Power Mop 50% off!!

Hamilton Beach Cappuccino Maker 50% off.

I so encourage everyone to take a look at their local Sears Outlet Store secondary to their bargains being hard to beat!
