Kalorik Steam Mop Cleaner Review
OK I am here to admit a dirty secret, even though I “clean” my kitchen floors every week they are still dirty. There I admitted it…it frustrates me to no end. I first start by vacuuming and then I use a hand-held device with a cleaner and throw away pads. Don’t get me wrong…the pads do work, they are soiled when I throw them away but I can’t ever get the grout of the tiles clean. Since we have moved (about a year and a half) we have had baby food, toddler food, regular food and every single drink imaginable spilled on the grout and I can’t ever get it clean unless I get down on my hands and feet and scrub. I don’t have the time and energy to do that!
I began the hunt for a cleaner which would help me tackle my dirty grout LOL. I stumbled across a company called Kalorik. First a little about Kalorik:

Established in Belgium, in 1930, Kalorik has become synonymous with fine engineering and unique product development. As one of Europe’s first manufactures of small electrical appliances, the company’s initial product was one of the very first electric toasters. With this well recognized achievement and a thirst for new invention, the company established offices in the U.K., Germany and Switzerland to further innovate and design new and exciting products.
Today Kalorik, is a second-generation industry, leader. Its passion to create superior products is a guiding force in the company’s commitment to new trends in product development, meticulous care for detail, and to maintaining cutting edge manufacturing facilities. It is this careful balance, combined with Kalorik’s experience and traditional values that has led to the company’s worldwide success.

Steam cleans floors in seconds- without chemicals! The Kalorik Steam Mopharnesses the dirt-devouring super-sanitizing power of steam to get your floors clean with almost no effort! It uses ordinary tap water- and absolutely NO detergents, soaps or chemicals- to clean linoleum, ceramic tile, stone, marble, carpeting, sealed hardwood parquet and more. No bending, no scrubbing- just guide the lightweight, easy-to-maneuver arrow swivel head mop over virtually any surface and hot steam dissolves sticky, greasy, ground-in messes. The unique microfiber head absorbs dirt and excess moisture, leaving the floor spotless and sanitized! Ideal for homes with crawling kiddies and frisky pets. A carpet glider attachment makes it easy to freshen high-traffic areas like stairs and hallways. You can clean and refresh your carpets and rugs without hiring and expensive steamer. Further features are a foldable handle for easy storage, super long 15′ cord and 2 washable microfiber pads.
Retails on Kalorik.com for $129.99.
My take: While I was reading the product manual so I could assemble the steam mop cleaner I read that in order to sanitize an area of your floor you must leave the steamer over the area for a minimum of 8 seconds but no greater than 15 seconds. I immediately knew this was not going to be possible every time I cleaned the kitchen floor but this would be perfect for those times that I had planned on getting on my hands and knees to scrub (once every couple of months). The assembly was easy and in no time I was on my way.
First my likes: I love how light-weight the steam mop cleaner is. The 15′ cord is a huge plus since I only had to plug in the cleaner twice to cover the wide expanse of my kitchen floor. Most importantly: this steam mop uses only tap water and washable pads…FINALLY I have found a less expensive way to clean my floors. Between the cleaning solution and the disposable pads my costs were really rising with my old way of cleaning my floors. I love that I no longer have to worry about my children-picking food off a still wet floor and my pets- eating food off the wet floors. Now I simply throw the dirty pad in the washing machine and I can re-use the pads over and over again. I also like the arrow swivel head- it was very easy to get into those hard to reach corners.
Now my dislikes: I wish the water reservoir was bigger…the manual says you will need to refill the reservoir every 15 minutes…it ended up closer to every 12-13 minutes for me. I understand that if there was a bigger reservoir the steam mop cleaner would then need to be heavier in order to support it but a girl can dream. Now if I only used it for light cleaning and not the sanitizing option this is not a problem but while sanitizing I made quite a few trips back and forth to the water faucet. Just a warning…be careful that small children are not present while using the steam mop cleaner…not only does it admit hot steam but more importantly it leaves the tile floor wet for quite a while. My 22 month old almost took a nasty spill because I didn’t notice he had woken up from his nap.
Now for the big question…does the Kalorik Steam Mop work? As I said before, I first used it for the sanitizing feature (which took forever) but was well worth the effort. The grout in my tiles have never been so clean…the gunk that was still left in the grout was so pliable if the microfiber pad did not pick it up I could easily remove it with one quick swipe of a wet wipe. I then used it for my regular light cleaning and loved how easy it was to use and how clean my floor was! Two huge thumbs up!!
A big thank you to Kalorik for allowing me the opportunity to review their Steam Mop!

This is something I need, been shopping around on different mops for grout, wondering if they would make another model so that you can add attachments to clean other tile. I have 4 inch white tile on counter tops and also in the bathroom on all the walls. Would be nice to have a machine to do both.. Thanks for the review.
I’ve been shopping around for one of these steam mops. I’ve got the idea in my head that I might mop more often if I have one (!!) Thanks for this review. This is one I haven’t read much about so appreciate your thoughts.
I hate cleaning and scrubbing floors and with 4 kids who love to track dirt in, and babies who crawl on the floor steam mop would be the answer to my prayers
