Nikon D3000 Review 1

nikonA

As most of you know, i am reviewing the Nikon D3000 now. I just recently finished a long haul of the Nikon P90. So what is different about these 2? For one, the P90 was a P&S. (Point & Shoot). The Nikon D3000 is a beginner DSLR (Digital SLR). Noticably different is the lens, and the screen. You have to look through the eye hole on this one and the lens is interchangable. It comes with the Body, Strap, Eye cap, and the Nikon DX AF-S Nikkor 18-55mm lens, battery, and charger. Now the price is not so bad to me for this DSLR. It retails for $600 but you can find it for as low as $458.00 on Amazon.

Breathtaking digital SLR image quality and easy operation highlight the 10.2-megapixel D3000–Nikon’s friendliest DSLR ever. Compact and capable, the D3000 is compatible with a broad range of world-famous Nikkor lenses and includes the versatile 3x, 18-55mm Zoom-Nikkor with Silent-Wave Motor autofocusing and Nikon VR image stabilization to combat picture blur caused by camera shake for sharper handheld pictures. Special moments are captured faithfully at up to 3 frames-per-second and displayed on a bright, 3-inch LCD monitor. The D3000′s split-second shutter response eliminates the annoyance of shutter lag. To further simplify picture-taking in special situations such as portraits, sports, landscapes, and more, the D3000 features icon-identified Scene Modes that deliver beautiful results automatically in otherwise complex situations. Additional Nikon technologies elevate picture quality and guard against picture-taking mistakes. Fast, accurate 11-point autofocus delivers razor sharpness. 3D Color Matrix Metering II and Nikon EXPEED image processing work with an exclusive Scene Recognition System for precise automatic exposures and rich, vivid color. Making the D3000 an even smarter choice are its exclusive Re-touch functions for creative fun and the onboard Guide Mode that’s ready to lend a reassuring hand to take the pictures you’ve always wanted.

Please Watch the Nikon D3000 Video HERE.

My take on this so far is that i am defiantly still learning. I did buy a 52mm flower petal lens hood for it so i can try more ‘in sun’ shots. (i will let you know when i master that LOL) I do wish i could see my shot on the screen instead of looking through the eye. I do like that you can attach a separate flash or a flash shield (my next purchase). Its funny because i see so many people say how light it is, and i think its honestly heavy for a camera. However i am use to P&S cameras, so maybe for a DSLR this is light? Either way you should buy a tripod for sure. I do have to say that it takes the crispiest shots i have seen. Everything looks so bright and clear and clean. That was the 1st thing i noticed when i snapped the very first picture of my girls.

I have been watching the Nikon commercials and honestly i think the Nikon D5000 is more up my alley because of the LCD flip screen and the Movie Mode. That is one thing i LOVED about the P90 was the screen. Made it so much easier when you were trying to contort yourself to get a great shot. I am sure i will bring you that review as well (cross fingers).

I did take a few shots, these are good to me, however if your some professional please know im new at this.

I am still learning all the features, believe me there are hundreds of setting on this thing.

I used alot of Deep Bloom for this one

ughh the hardest one to capture!

If you have been following me from the first P90 review, you will know i LOVE flower and scenery pictures. Those will be the majority i show lol. I dont know why but the capture of a flower just speaks louder than any great portrait. To see a rose bud opening or a group of berries holding on for life in a hard wind just makes me pick up my Nikon and snap away.

Hope you enjoy it as much as me

Ok that is all i have for now. I will be getting some new ones i promise you!

Let me know what you think so far and PLEASE leave me some hints or tips on great settings if you can.

Oh! This is cool! I don’t know how I missed this- I have a canon SX10is and it is considered to be an advanced P&S because it has DSLR features but does not have all of the abilities and no changing lenses although I have heard I should be able to attach one… Still need to check that out.
Those pics turned out great! Do you already do photography at all? I hate to even ask- It shows I still havenot read your entire Blog- LOL
That camera is very impressive and an impressive price for a DSLR also- even at $600-
    Thx

I got the nikon d3000 for Christmas and I’m still learning new things about it. Even though this camera is positioned as a beginner DSLR it is still a great camera that you can grow into for years before upgrading.
i also take pictures with the 35mm camera so for me seeing the image on the screen before taking the picture was not a big deal for me (sales people tried to sell me on that when I was doing my research before purchasing).
The pictures are very clear and crisp. This is an expensive hobby and I’m finding myself always “needing” new accessories for the camera. With spring arriving soon I can’t wait to get this camera outside to see what it can really do.
Enjoyed your reviews and will look for others.
