TruBamboo Review and Giveaway

If there is one thing i learned starting a family, it was that whatever i may “want” needs to go on hold. Prices go up and quality goes down. Nice things just are not in your wallets flexibility.
I started wanting a bamboo cutting board and after seeing price after price figured i would not have one for a while. I could not find any under $60+ dollars. Personally, my husband would probably tell me to sleep, eat, bathe with something that much LOL. Then i came across TruBamboo.
The site was not up for ordering at the time. They were brand spanking new. I was able to review the items though and what i saw made me extremely excited. I saw bamboo cutting boards in all sizes and prices. But when i say prices, i mean “mom” prices. $3.99 to $49.00. Yes, the most expensive board is only $50. I was floored. The board i liked best was only $9.99. {Bermuda Medium Utility Two Tone Cutting Board} Even if TruBamboo did not respond to my email… i was watching for the time when i could buy it. I mainly wanted one to cut onions and tomatoes. So not too big but a good size for that at least.
The Bermuda cutting board collection features a two tone design which displays the aesthetic versatility of bamboo. The outside of the boards are blonde in color which is the natural tone of the bamboo. The dark inside section is achieved by steaming the bamboo slats. This steaming process utilizes the natural sugars within the bamboo stalk to “caramelize” the bamboo to give it a classic look. The Bermuda cutting board makes an attractive serving and chopping surface and also a great gift.
When the wonderful people at TruBamboo emailed, they wanted to have a conference call. As nervous as i was (yes i do actually get nervous LOL), i was excited to learn more about this company. Talk about a wealth of information! I had no idea true reality about Bamboo and why its used or even how its made into cutting boards. Did you even know there were cutting boards with different purposes?? I had no idea what those grooves on some boards were.. guess they were so juices could flow (i know you can stop laughing at me now lol)
So let me tell you what i learned about our PETA friendly Bamboo friends at TruBamboo…..
Unlike most other hardwood cutting boards, bamboo absorbs very little moisture and consequently does not shrink or swell making it a superior choice of material for cutting boards. Bamboo is even harder then maple which means the cutting board will have less visible knife marks over time. Not only is bamboo 16% harder than maple but it is lighter than oak and easy to handle. Bamboo also has anti-bacterial properties that make it an ideal material for cutting boards and cooking utensils.
Bamboo also holds the promise of a cost effective and ecologically responsible alternative to the widespread clear cutting of our world’s precious rainforest. Bamboo is actually a grass that grows to a harvestable height of 60 feet in just 3-5 years, growing as much as 6 feet per day. It has an extensive root system that continually sends up new shoots and naturally replenishes itself. Bamboo does not require replanting.
Plus TruBamboo does NOT use any Bamboo that is needed or used for food of any animal. How great is that! The next board i would love to have is the very affordable Large Carving Board with Blood Line (pictured above). It retails for only $39.99!
The Trubamboo™ Carving Board features a wide grain, solid caramelized finish that is achieved by steaming the bamboo slats. This steaming process utilizes the natural sugars within the bamboo stalk to “caramelize” the bamboo to give it a classic look. This carving board also features a deep center grooved platform for carving meats and poultry. This groove stabilizes roasts while carving and also has a deep juice-well groove that collects the juices while carving. The Trubamboo Carving Board has been referred to as “The Holiday Board” because it’s ideal for holiday dinners and makes a great gift.
But they TruBamboo also has more than cutting & serving boards.. check out the cooking utensils and the Tru Grip cutting boards….
Trubamboo™ kitchen utensils are all made of 100% organic bamboo. These utensils are both eco-friendly and aesthetically pleasing. This makes Trubamboo™ kitchen utensils a wonderful alternative to most plastic and wood kitchen utensils. Another great benefit of Trubamboo™ kitchen utensils is their durability. The production process is 100% natural, using no chemicals or dyes. Trubamboo™ kitchen utensils are also safe to use on non-stick cookware. Bamboo also has natural antibacterial properties which maintain sterile surface when cleaned and cared for properly.
Bamboo is a common material in Asia and has been used for centuries in almost every household. Bamboo has become imbedded in Asian culture because of its strength, flexibility, and durability. In fact, bamboo is used for construction, food, and even medicine within many Asian cultures.

I’d really love to have a couple of the flatware trays. We have all my serving utensils, plus the silverware set we got for our wedding, plus hubby’s old stuff. We have two plastic trays and it’s still not enough room. Plus, the TruBamboo stuff is perfect for my kitchen, the decor of which is inspired by Gilligan’s Island. My favorite cutting board is the Bimini Extra Large chop block with two handles, and my favorite utensil on the site is the Leaf Collection Slotted Spatula.

I love the Extra Large Carving Board with Blood Line and the Collection Slotted Spoon.
The Extra Large Carving Board with Blood Line is my favorite cutting board. The 6 Piece Kitchen Set is my Favorite utensil. I learned Bamboo is the fastest growing plant on Earth.
Love the Bimini Extra Large Chop Block and the ultra awesome Leaf Collection Slotted Spatula.
Bamboo is the fastest-growing plant on Earth; it has been measured surging skyward as fast as 121 cm (47.6 inches) in a 24-hour period and can also reach maximal growth rate exceeding one meter (39 inches) per hour for short periods of time. Many prehistoric bamboos exceeded heights of 75 meters (250 feet).
I’m a witness! It grows really fast!
