If you have not seen it you should check it out by clicking HERE. I also mentioned a few days ago that there would be something special coming up from Mega-Catch, well here it is!
In celebration of National Good Neighbor Day, Mega-Catch is offering an amazing competition that will make one lucky MommyPR reader and their neighbor both winners!!!
Here are the details of this exciting competition:
Nominate your neighbor for one of our top performing Premier mosquito traps (MSRP $249) and win an Alpha trap (MSRP $99) for yourself
In 2003, the U.S. Senate passed a resolution, sponsored by Montana Senator Max Baucus, making September 28, National Good Neighbor Day. Previously, this day was celebrated on the fourth Sunday of September.
Good Neighbor Day. It’s definitely a good thing. Being good neighbors is an important part of the social fiber that makes America so great. Therefore, it seems only fitting that one day a year honors good neighbors.
Mega-Catch™ Mosquito Traps
Because mosquitoes are known carriers of at least 30 arboviruses including Malaria, Dengue fever, various strains of Encephalitis and West Nile virus, they’re no longer considered just a nuisance, but are regarded as a deadly threat. Just one bite is all it takes to contract disease.
The most effective method of controlling mosquitoes is to stop them from breeding.
This can be done by:
- Removing all their most popular breeding sites – standing water, however little, anywhere. It doesn’t take much, an inch or two that has collected in a child’s toy, a flowerpot, an old tire. Stagnant pools, birdbaths and fountains are another mosquito favorite.
- Daily trapping during the season. The benefit of mosquito traps is that they actually reduce mosquito populations around the home, not just repel them. They interrupt the breeding cycle of the female mosquito and eliminate and help control mosquitoes in the long term. So while there is no one item or solution, a proactive approach and combination of techniques, including mosquito traps, is the best way to help control mosquitoes.
Further DIY mosquito protection should also include wearing loose long pants and long sleeves to help deter the biters and using repellents, especially those with DEET.
So say thank you to a good neighbor and be one yourself:
Nominate your neighbor for one of our top performing Premier Mosquito Traps (MSRP $249) and win an Alpha Trap (MSRP $99) for yourself – because the more traps in your street the better. We know that mosquitoes will travel to get blood. There are over 3,500 mosquito species worldwide with 175 of them in the U.S. Your yard could harbor as many as 30 different species while your neighbor’s yard 300 feet away might have completely different species.

Although Megacatch recommends that we run the trap 24/7 for the first month or so, reduced usage is permitted especially during peak blood-sucking periods, such as the evening and early morning.
