Kyocera Communications Inc. recently unveiled a new waterproof 4G LTE Android smartphone—the Kyocera Hydro AIR—for $99 exclusively at Walmart for AT&T’s GoPhone prepaid mobile service.
The Hydro AIR provides all of the functionality and style of more expensive devices, but offers users the peace of mind that comes with a waterproof, durable phone. Most smartphone failures result from water damage and drops, but Hydro AIR protects against those and more thanks to its waterproof, drop-proof and dust-proof design. So there’s less need to worry about breaking its big, beautiful 5-inch display.
With its IPX5 and IPX7 certifications, the Hydro AIR will survive an unexpected shower or water immersion for up to 30 minutes in up to 3.28 feet (1 meter) and the touchscreen can even be operated when wet. And while no phone is indestructible, this one gives you the peace of mind of Military Standard 810G certification for shock and drops, and an IP5X dustproof rating. It comes ready with Google Mobile services including Google Play, Google Hangouts, Gmail and more. The phone also is equipped with a 5MP camera, Stereo Bluetooth, a memory card slot that supports up to 32 GB of extra memory and a long-lasting 2300mAh Lithium ion battery supported by enhanced power-management software.
I am so excited about this phone! I have been considering switching from my iphone to an android because of the freedom. Plus my bill is much higher than the gophone plans. But to find a phone that is waterproof, and has military grade features in a price range I can afford is amazing.
I am the type to relax in the bath with my phone. My $1000 phone with an equally expensive case just to protect it from a bubble or it will crash and die right?! To know there is a phone out there that is capable of falling in for 30 minutes is perfect. Perfect for those times its raining and you want to hide your phone before your hair. Perfect for those parents who have kids who think they are helping by smearing who knows what all over the screen and then flushing it. Perfect for those families who have fur babies and decide this phone on the ground may look good to pee on.
Hey we all have a horror story about our phones. That rice trick only saves them for so long. Why not switch and get this affordable life saver.
Side note, I am also a Google everything lover (even my computer is a Google Chromebook) so for a phone to already be connected to all my services is a big giant bonus to me.
I can’t tell you anything bad so far with this smartphone. I have enjoyed it and as soon as I can switch out of my contract, I will be enjoying saving money!
