Gerber Gear is a staple in our house, but not for their fishing gear. I had no idea they even had fishing tools. When I thought of Gerber, I assumed it was simply knives or multi-tools. Surprise Surprise!
I was sent the Gerber Flik to review. Now when it arrived, i was the one that was excited. Fishing is one of my favorite pastimes with our family, and this was going to cut out a ton of tools from the tackle box. I opened the Flik and seen it does come in its own case for easy transport. Trying to open some of the attachments was heck though. It has locks all over it, which is nice for safety, but lord it sent me into a rage figuring it out. However once you do sit there for an hour and notice you are suppose to squeeze and push up on the lock, then you feel like an idiot lol.
When my husband came home and seen it, even he was surprised that Gerber made fishing tools. I stood back and watched to see if he would fumble at the locks as well, and he did. I let him try for about 5 minutes (seriously) before i showed him how. That is the only downfall of the tool though. And I suppose that is good since we have children and we don’t want them having easy access to something sharp and even easier access opening it.
Attached to the Flik are crimpers, long, hook removing pliers, pinch cutters for cutting hooks, carbide coated hook sharpening file, file with hook sharpening groove, scissors, on-board tools, and a saw.
