Dirty Girl Soaps (Etsy) Review & Giveaway

I just love Etsy shops.  Don’t know what Etsy is?  Etsy is the place to go to buy & sell handmade things.  Everything I have ever purchased or reviewed is quality made at reasonable prices.  Dirty Girl Soaps is a prime example.  Crystal is the owner and here is a little about her shop in her own words:

I have been making soaps since 2005. I make soaps using the cold-process method and I make my soap completely from scratch which means that I have total control over what goes into them. My soaps retain their natural glycerin content, a by-product of the soapmaking process. Glycerin is a humectant, meaning it draws water from the air, and it helps to moisturize skin and help it retain its water content. In industrial soapmaking, the glycerin is extracted and sold to cosmetic and pharmaceutical companies and is used as an ingredient in cosmetics.

My soaps are all mild and moisturizing, made with skin-loving oils and have a creamy, bubbly lather.

I love designing new soaps and coming up with new and different color/scent combinations. I use additives in my soaps such as clays, botanicals, coconut milk and sea salt, just to name a few. I think these give the soaps a little extra something … a bit of luxury in addition to the gentle, cleansing properties of the soap itself.

I was fortunate enough to be able to choose from one of her whipped body butter moisturizers.  With scents such as angel food cake, coconut citrus sorbet, and passionfruit guava to name a few I had a very hard time choosing.  I decided to go with my absolute favorite scent citrus splash (Gwen).  Gwen – very refreshing and uplifting with citrus scents of Orange, Tangerine, Grapefruit and Peach.   Doubly rich and moisturizing with both Shea and Cocoa Butters, this vegan-friendly, ultra-creamy whipped formula will leave you smooth and supple with the most luxuriously soft skin ever! Long lasting, deliciously fragrant and never greasy. I was not disappointed at all by my choice.  The scent is light and refreshing and VERY moisturizing!!  A little goes a long way and I adore the way the scent lingers lightly on my skin and does not overwhelm me.  I couldn’t ask for a better moisturizer.

Crystal also sent me a sample of one of her soaps: Watermelon Cold Process Olive Oil Soap – Cassidy.  Cassidy is a like a sweet smelling watermelon. Smelling like that yummy hard candy that all the kids love.  It really does resemble a watermelon with a green outer edge and pink center.   This soap was truly creamy, with great lather.  The best part, it left my hands super soft!  What a treat to find a soap that not only cleanses but also smells great and leaves my hands feeling pampered…a big thumbs up!

Dirty Girl Soaps not only offers soap and moisturizers but also lip balms and hair conditioners.  Too many choices to have to make…Crystal also offers 4 samples of body butters or soap..your choice of scents!!   Doesn’t get much better than that!  Her prices are extremely reasonable:  3 oz body butter is $7 and a 4.5 ounce bar of soap is around $5.50.

Dirty Girl Soaps is generously offering one very lucky MommyPR reader a Cold Process Soap of their own.  Winner gets to pick their own scent!!
