We had the pleasure of visiting the Grand Mound Washington Great Wolf Lodge this weekend. I was surprised that at the 4 o’clock check in, there were only about 3 people in front of me. Check in went fast and we were on to our room on the 4th floor (there are 7 floors!). The elevators proved to test my patience as they were relativity slow for having 3 of them, but they are rather large ones, so I am sure they stay busy. We found our way to our room, it had:

2 queen beds

sofa bed

TV

Iron board

Laundry bag

Table & chairs

Coffee Table

fridge

safe

hair dryer

coffee pot w/ coffee & cups

extra pillows and blankets

towels

soaps, hand creams and Scoops bath for the kids

First we ran down to the ATM (located at the Gr_8 Space door), grabbed some money and split up. My youngest wanted to do crafts and my oldest wanted to play games in the Northern Lights Arcade. I loved the Cub Club! It was the best place for toddlers and money wise. Nothing is over $20 there and they have a list of things to do free. The kids can color, read books, play games and play or watch the theater all free. We chose to make a piggy bank (only $10). Seriously not to be missed. If you have older kids, they can make bubble baths, sprays, purses, etc.

My daughter and husband played in the arcade for a while and when I found them, they were cashing in their tickets for candy and bouncy balls. Go figure. Those 2 love arcades. We then went back to our rooms (choosing the stairs this time) and changed to go to the water park.

Walking into the water park, it hits you with warmth and chlorine. We sat for a moment while their was a break for the lifeguards, then ventured over to the kids section to let Ariel play. Although she was not interested in it at all, shouting to only want the “waves”. And when that big bucket of water fell down, we were all happy and thrilled, but that was enough to have her rushing back to see if the “waves” section was open yet ha! We all played in that part for a while until my oldest talked me into riding down Totem Towers. I have no idea what I was thinking going down that, but I am pretty sure I wet myself scared. I am not one for heights, anything fast, and certainly not combined with water. I walked off that slide as fast as I could and my daughter laughed and said do you want to do it again. I said girl if you ask me to do that again we can go home (kidding). My husband laughed at me, but thats ok, I would much rather hang with my 4 year old in the wave pool the rest of the day.

Finally feeling wore out, we decided it was time to eat. We ordered the Wolf Den Meal and picked it up downstairs. We walked around a little more, getting candy and just looking at all the wands and gear. (Side note- you can purchase Wands that “magically” open, light up, and move items all throughout the entire hotel.).

Back in the room, once the 2 hyper ladies settle down, we were off to bed watching Wizards Of Waverly Place re-runs. We woke and readied ourselves for check out at 11am, but not before grabbing a frappe at the built in Starbucks!

Another side note is that every night around 8pm, they have a really cute story time. Kids gather in the fireplace lounge area and are read a book, its a beautiful setting and really fun. Also the Grand Mound location had 8 huge coloring paper areas in the lobby, completely free for kids to have fun with.

Here are some pictures I took while we were there. (Excuse the quality, I used my cell phone so it would be easier)

My recommendations for getting the best savings at any of the Great Wolf Lodge locations are:

The rooms have a mini fridge, take water bottles, juice boxes and even lunchables. It will cut back on the costs of the kids wanting to purchase drinks.

Purchase the Cub Pack for your kids. Its $60 each but you will save almost $100 with this bundle. It includes a stuffed animal, wand and several other activities.

The best deal for staying in to eat is the Wolf Den Meal. It has a pizza, 2 liter, salad and bread sticks for $26.99. You can also go out and bring the food back to your room or even order out and have it delivered to the front desk.

Take your own flip flops or water shoes so you don’t have to rent them.

Towels are provided free if you want a lighter luggage.

Search out discounts on your room. If you have to, call and ask what is available. (Military discounts available!)

Buy the kids disposable water proof cameras for added fun

There are lots of free activities that are free, so find them out and have fun!
