Ever since my niece was a toddler she has enjoyed baby dolls. I remember the look on her face when she opened her Bitty Baby from American Girl. Ever since then, American Girl dolls have been her favorite and I am so excited that I get to continue the tradition with my 15 month old daughter.
It is time to celebrate and explore with the debut of American Girl’s newly enhanced Bitty Baby® line of high-quality 15-inch baby dolls, outfits, and accessories. Bitty Baby, a longtime, lovable playtime companion to millions of girls ages 3 and up, now has even more options to encourage nurturing play, including 11 different dolls with various skin tones and hair- and eye-color combinations, beautifully illustrated picture books filled with heartwarming adventures, and new premium play sets and plush animals, as well as online activities for girls and parents.

My take: I love that there are 11 new styles of Bitty Baby dolls and I must admit I had a very difficult time choosing which doll would be perfect for my daughter. I still vividly remember when I was a child, having a redhead friend deeply sigh and say “I wish there was a doll who had my hair color”. That statement has stuck with me ever since and whenever I see a doll in store I scan the shelves for redheads and I still don’t find that many. So the decision was made to review the light skin, red hair, gray eyes doll. (The choice ultimately came down to the one I chose or one with textured hair, which is another new feature I love).
Here is a picture of my daughter and her Bitty Baby doll:
One of the greatest things I like about this doll is how sturdy she is. She has been loved and hugged and dragged by one arm or leg just about anywhere. The poor baby doll has also suffered countless pokes to the eyes because my daughter is obsessed with her eyelashes and the fact that her eyes close when laid down.
Through all the pokes and snuggles the doll continues to look like new. Even though I know she is young for this baby it just melts my hear to see how loved this baby is. The sleeper is just adorable and reminds me of the one I brought my baby girl home in and I love the extra touch of the cloth diaper. We have looked through the book’s pictures quite a few times and I really like how updated and modern all the characters and clothing are. The keepsake wishing star is adorable as well.
