90 Day Fitness Challenge- Ten Minute Trainer Day 1

If you have been keeping up with our 90 day fitness challenge, you know the reasons why Angela and Dawn are taking the challenge.  Why am I taking the challenge?  Well first let me explain that I have been blessed with my grandmother’s metabolism and never really had to watch my weight (I know you hate me already).  That being said, I have  2 great boys during which I gained 70 pounds each while pregnant.  My poor stomach is just plain nasty, wrinkly extra flabby skin (not too noticeable until I bend over).

Being a physical therapist and former cheerleader, I have always exercised.   I love the cardio workouts with great dance music to go along.  I would have loved to try the Turbo Jam- it seems right up my alley, but I simply have no time.  With 2 boys under the age of 4, working outside the home part-time and being a product reviewer I can never find enough time to workout.  Tony Horton’s Ten Minute Trainer seems the best fit for me right now.  I am not doing this to lose weight, I am doing this to make myself more fit.  I want to be able to run longer distances with my boys, have more energy throughout the day, and quite honestly just feel better about myself.

I will tell you straight out that I will only be doing one 10 minute workout a day.  No multiple workouts a day for me, I wish I had the time but I don’t.  I am also going to just complete the workouts without the resistance bands in the beginning so I can ease myself in.  So I took my measurements and my before pics.  According to the workout calendar that was provided I will be doing the cardio workout first…wish me luck!

Post workout update- I completed the Cardio workout last night….boy did it ever kick my butt.  First let me say that the workout is actually 14 minutes long because there is a 2 minute warm-up and cool-down.  I loved the kicks and the leg work but the lunges killed me.  Thank goodness I choose not to use the resistance band because I could barely make it through the 10 minute workout.  I know it is only for 10 minutes but there is no rest break (not even for 15 seconds). 

How do I feel?  Well other than my legs feeling so rubbery that I thought I was going to fall over last night, I don’t feel that bad.  It is now afternoon of the next day and I am beginning to feel the soreness creep into my body.  But beyond all of that, I feel great because I actually took the time and forced myself to exercise.  Yes it is going to be rough for the next couple of weeks but I am up for the challenge…and who knows I may even get to use that darn resistance band!  Well I will be back next week to update you on my progress, and I hope you join us in our quest to become more physically fit…please keep us updated on your progress too!
