Tryout.net Talent Network: Review & Pro Session Giveaway

I recently had the opportunity to review a great new company called Tryout with my boys.

tryout

Tryout is a Kid-Safe multilingual Talent Network available to kids, parents and professionals. Tryout gives kids a chance to safely develop and grow their creative talents and interests from their homes while working with the best creative professionals out there. We provide a 100% COPPA complaint environment which means that child’s profile is never made public and cannot be looked at or found by anyone, putting you in complete control. Once you find professionals you are interested in communicating with, whose expertise range from fields of interest including sports, dance, music, performance, modeling, fine arts and special talents, you can communicate with them on an exclusive one-on-one. Our new features give you the ability to communicate with professionals across the United States, making feasible to interact with professionals whose classes your child might not have had the chance to be exposed to otherwise.

My take:  I was immediately interested, especially when I viewed the wide range offered.   As I scanned over the list of options here is what I found:

  • Vocal coaches
  • Hockey Expert
  • Screenwriting
  • Casting Director
  • Voice-Over Expert
  • Dance
  • Acting Coach
  • Songwriting
  • Guitar
  • Judo & Martial Arts
  • Music Producer
  • Fitness Expert
  • MLB

I let my boys look over the list and they both immediately gravitated towards Josh Satin from the NY Mets.  Registration was super quick and easy.  If you are the parent you sign up with your email address and password.  You then create a profile for yourself and your child (your child can access the site via a username you have created but they don’t have access to any of your settings).  Choose your desired selection and some may have the option of a feedback or a live session.  In a nutshell a Pro feedback session is where industry professionals offer guidance to parents and kids via text and recorded video.  Pro Live Session : Industry professionals communicate directly with parents and kids via one-on-one video chat.  Safety is a priority so no one can ever access your account other than you and your child is unable to purchase any feedback or live sessions using their username.

I encourage you to then browse all of the options and choose fields which you think your child would be interested in.  Once you choose these fields, you can quickly see updates and information relevant to your child’s interest via the channels your chosen fields have created.

Once you decide which session you prefer you then purchase a package of Tryout credits.  The more credits you purchase, the greater the discount offered:

Once you have purchased your credits you are ready to go.  We picked Josh Satin MLB player and once I clicked to his page I found this along with a bio of Josh’s career:

What I need you to send me:

Please send me in a brief description of what part of your game you want to improve, and any questions you may have for me. Also, send in a short video with footage of your game.  For your swing, send in 2 different angles to be sure I can give you the very best feedback.

What I’ll provide back:

I will send over detailed text on how to improve your game, and let you know how you can improve.  I’ll also provide you with actual footage of my skills as reference for you.  This should really help you step up your game!

Both boys decided they would love to have some major league advice in regards to their hitting so we all went outside and I taped both of the boys hitting baseballs and gave Josh a front and side view of each child’s batting ability.I then uploaded the video to my gallery and attached it to the contact form I was given.  The form also had ample space to write any questions we wanted to ask.  A short time later (usually takes less than a week), Josh graciously wrote us back and provided some really helpful feedback.   I was impressed with Josh for several reasons….when I use the term gracious I really meant it because Josh was complimentary, positive and really took time and effort in composing his reply back to us.  The grins on my boys’ faces was a sight I will never forget.  I love hearing them tell friends and family members that a pro baseball player took the time to give them tips on how to improve their batting.

To obtain feedback from Josh, the price was 350 credits.  You can purchase a package for 500 credits that costs $50 and use the remaining credits for a different session if you so choose.  I really don’t think $50 is a bad price considering a professional is taking the time out of his/her busy schedule to offer some great, helpful advice.

Overall, I found the entire experience to be very positive.  I love the ease in which it took to complete the process and am still amazed at the wide variety offered.  Even though we aren’t Mets fans (sorry Josh) there are some very recognizable professionals available to consult such as Anna Trebunskaya from Dancing with the Stars and Ken Stacey vocal coach from American Idol.  Plus there is always  a chance to be discovered by industry professionals who are on the lookout for talent on Tryout.
