I LOVE to read.
It’s more than just a pastime; it’s a passion I want to pass along to my two boys and now my beautiful baby girl.
Those moments I spend with my kids reading them a bedtime story are more than just precious memories, they’re teachable moments that build lessons for a lifetime.
That’s why on October 3, 2013 I Pledge to Read as part of Jumpstart’s “Read for the Record” campaign. It’s the day millions of people come together to read the same book for the same cause: celebrate literacy and promote early childhood education. Last year, 2.3 million people Read for the Record. This year, we want to beat that number!
Jumpstart’s mission is to work towards the day that every child in America enters kindergarten prepared to succeed. Since 2006 this event has reached 9 million children and raised more than $8 million for early education programs!
I want my kids to succeed, and I want yours to as well!
So on October 3 I am baking my favorite cookies and pouring my kids some milk so we can enjoy this year’s critically acclaimed book “Otis” by Loren Long, together. Take the pledge and join me! Tell me how YOU plan to spread the importance of reading to your kids and you can win a copy of this year’s book.
Tell me what your favorite book is to read to your children!
