Motorola Wi-Fi Video Baby Monitor Camera Blink Review & Motorola Baby Monitor MBP26 Two in One Monitor Giveaway
We recently celebrated my daughter’s first birthday party and the one product that I have used every single day of her life is the Motorola Baby Monitor I received just before she was born. I use it for naptime, bedtime and when we travel outside of the home. I always felt bad that I could always keep an eye on her throughout the day while my family missed out. Now thanks to the Motorola Blink Baby Monitor they can peek in on her during naptime as well.
The Motorola BLINK1 Wi-Fi® Baby Camera turns any compatible Smartphone, Tablet, or Computer into a video baby monitoring system. User’s simply load the BLINK1 app onto their device, login to the Motorola BLINK1 service, and connect to the BLINK1 camera via a secure server. Once connected parents can pan, tilt, and zoom the camera remotely, view live video, and record the action to their device. Additional features include infrared night vision, room temperature monitoring, and a two-way audio communication. Motorola’s innovative BLINK1 Wi-Fi® Baby Camera is the ideal baby monitoring system for today’s tech savvy parents.

My take: Set-up only takes a few minutes and is very well explained in the instruction booklet. You must download the Monitor Everywhere App and then sync your smartphone and monitor together. (You will need to create an account at Monitor Everywhere). Then the fun begins….it is amazing to me that I can peek in at my daughter via my iPhone. It has all the great features as the traditional video monitors plus a few extra added features. Traditional features: you can span up/down, right/left, zoom, there is a temperature control reading, night vision, the ability to play lullabies and a microphone so you can speak to your child. Added features: image snapshot (which loads directly to your photo stream) and the ability to take videos.
I first tried it out in my house and found that it worked great. It will use quite a bit of your phone’s battery so make sure to turn the app off when you are not using it. I really like that I can read my email, be on the Internet, etc and still be able to hear her cry via the phone. Now there is a about a 25 second lag between her actual cries and the sound coming from the phone. Next I waited until my husband was home then make a quick trip to a store where Wi-Fi was available. I could see her clearly and still hear her which I found to be absolutely amazing.
Make sure to note that you need to have Wi-Fi and a smartphone in order to access this monitor.
Overall this monitor is a great addition and I love that I am able to monitor her even when I am away from home which gives me peace of mind. I plan to continue to use it especially when we travel to my parent’s house because that means I only need to take the parent unit instead of two monitors like the traditional monitors that are available.
