Free Country Outerwear Review (Because Its FREEZING in Germany!)

It’s freaking cold as heck here! We just had a few days of sun and it totally tricked us because we went and bought a new grill, had a cookout, wore shorts, put out the greenhouse and the broke out some sidewalk chalk. Um. NO. Total lie. Right now as I type, its snowing again. And more snow tomorrow. Don’t get me wrong, I am loving the snow here, but good lord go away already and let me plant some strawberries or roses finally.

Good thing I have a heavy duty jacket that is, well, kick butt warm! Free Country sent me this Women’s Astri Power Down Jacket in a Large Grey Print.

This thing is awesome-sauce. Look at all the darn pockets and layers. I haven’t even used any of the pockets, I love zipping up just the inner layer and the thumb-hole cuffs are my favorite feature. I have an addiction on shirts and sweaters with those.

Women's Astri Power Down Jacket

Here is little ol me in my kickin’ jacket.

Free Country Jacket Review

The Astri Coat from Free Country‘s Power Down Series is a bar quilted beauty in brush plaid print Airtouch down shell. Down fill with detachable, faux fur trim hood and double zip, front closure with signature butter pile bib, butter pile back lining, collar, and hand gaiter make Astri warm and divine to wear and behold as the name implies. Interior cell phone, music, and basket pockets add utility.

I a highly impressed with my new coat and so was my (very picky) husband. I had him help me pick it out from the website and when it arrived, even he liked it. The thickness is perfect for the weather, there are plenty of pockets (not even sure why you need a purse anymore) and the hood looks super cute. The only thing I would say negative, is the sleeve length for the large is just a few inches too short. It may just be my arms are weird but when I put my thumb in the cuff hole, it seems too short and pulls. But hey, you don’t have to use the cuff anyways so Its not a necessity.

This jacket is on sale (at the time of posting) for $80 and worth every single penny to me! Especially compared to the mere fleece one I bought my husband (for more)! Some notes about this coat are:

  • Filled with Natural Down Feathers for Lightweight Warmth and Comfort
  • Water Resistant
  • Machine Washable
  • Detachable Faux Fur Hood

I received a coat to help with my review. All opinions are my own.

It looks nice on you. Glad it’s keeping you warm though. The weather is bouncing around from warm to cold in many places here in the states too. I’m wondering if I should start some of my plants indoors for later transplanting outside, or wait a bit, in case I have to end up planting them later than we usually do. Just think I’ll wait til next week to start some seeds indoors, rather than this week.
