My take: Remember me saying how I was going to try my best to assemble all the products I review without any help. Well I was a bit intimidated at the thought of putting together a stroller system by myself (the last one took FOREVER to assemble). Imagine my surprise and delight when I opened the box to see this:
I only had to attach the wheels, parent tray and child tray!!! I literally wanted to perform cartwheels of joy. Set-up took less than 5 minutes and I was on my way to install the car seat base in the car. We have a minivan with the LATCH system and I love the ease at which I was able to install the car seat base. The level indicator gave me peace of mind knowing I had installed the base correctly.
Now onto the real test- how the baby fit/felt in the system. When I first picked up the car seat I immediately noticed how lightweight and shorter in length it was to the previous car seat I had been using. Just out of curiosity I weighed them on the bathroom scale and the Eddie Bauer car seat was 10 pounds lighter which is a huge deal for this mom who has to carry the car seat into 2 school buildings every day to pick up the older kids. It is also shorter in length thanks to what I call the dump factor- the space in which your child’s bottom fits into the car seat. This seat is deeper than most which I like. My daughter looks more comfortable when she sleeps, she can’t lean forward like she did in the previous car seat and since the base is behind the driver’s seat my husband has more leg room when he drives. The only aspect that I dind’t like of the car seat was that I am finding out the button to release the chest straps is difficult to access (it is under the fabric of the car seat) and it does not easily give way. That being said I don’t have any difficulty taking her in/out of the seat with the restraint tightly secured ( I just have to wiggle her arms a little more).
As for the stroller- again I noticed how light it was compared to my other travel stroller. I really like how with one simple push of a button you can alternate between fixed and non-fixed front wheel which is useful for different terrains. The stroller is very easy to collapse and store in the back of the van (there is a button on the bottom of the steering handle which you slide and push to activate the collapse of the stroller). I have way more room to store groceries or miscellaneous items compared to any other stroller I have ever used especially when I remove the child tray. The adjustable handle makes it easy for both my husband and I to use.
As for maneuverability- I am able to easily navigate around any obstacle that is in my way. We have used this stroller for walks in the mall and outdoors and it handles all surfaces with ease. The process of attaching the car seat to the stroller is simple- place the car seat facing you and push down until you hear a click on each side alerting you that the seat is securely fastened. All in all I can’t say enough great things about this system although I do wish there was a more girly color such as a deep purple but the cardinal red is working out great for us.
