Action Shot Camera Review

Every kid who loves the outdoors is going to be begging for an action camera this Christmas; if they haven’t already. It’s the new fad and honestly I am all for it since it encourages outdoor play and exercise. The downfall is that most of those camera’s cost a weeks worth of pay. That is about to go out the window as a similar camera is now available for a fraction of the price. $50 to be exact. Meet the all new, kid friendly, Action Shot Cam!

Endorsed by 4 hardcore athletes, 2 of which are my personal favorites: Travis Pastrana and Rob Dydrek.

Capture and share the action anywhere, with the Action Shot POV Camera! Attach to your helmet, bike, skateboard and more with the easy Click & Grip™ mounting system. Easy on-the-go interface means you can record POV footage and photos of all the action with just a few clicks. Upload your footage and photos to any computer (Mac or PC) with the included USB connection, then edit your greatest triumphs – or fails – with the included video editing software!

So 1st we hooked our cam to the bottom of our car (no speeding or racing!) and drove down the road just to test the durability of the sticky’s that comes with them. It held up perfectly. Then we attached it to our dog and let him run. We figured the camera being heavy would flip around a lot or navigate to the bottom of his chin but surprisingly it stayed to the side 90% of the run. We have yet to see if the water proof case works, but the high impact, mounting kit and the portable video viewer all worked just fine.

Pros-

  • Easy to assemble and use.
  • Has a slot for a micro SD card.
  • Priced very affordable.
  • Designed for kids ages 7+.
  • Encourages creativity, individuality and out door play.
  • Neutral colors for all genders.
  • Attaches to just about everything.

Cons-

  • Playback graphics could be slightly better, mine seemed grainy; however I tested the non-HD cam.
  • Software download must be a huge file because once opened, it kept freezing on the editing aspect.

Final thoughts- Buy it! Grab the HD version, and if all else add the mounting kit and the high impact case. You will be mom/dad/grandma/aunt of the year!

I did take a cool video of my dog’s POV and it was really cute. Once I imported it to the software though, I couldn’t get the application to load properly so instead here is a much better star showing you how its done:

I foresee this camera on every kids wishlist in December!
