When Addictions Take Over
My grandma and I were talking about addictions today; how they can take over your whole life without you ever realizing it. (Or trying to look away from it). It’s a disease that devastates your whole life.
Cigarettes, prescription drugs, illegal substances, and alcohol are all deadly in their own ways, especially when you won’t (or don’t) want to recognize that it’s hurting more than just yourself. Second hand smoke, overdoses, anger, abuse, neglect, and physical/emotional/mental repercussions can be caused to yourself, your family and friends. That’s if they are even still around. 1 drink turns to 2, then 4-5 bottles a day. Maybe a pipe next, a few pain killers to sleep, then you need them to get through the day more and more. Pretty soon, without even noticing, you depend on these to just survive to the next day. But surviving isn’t living.
Get help! Hope is not lost, even when you think there is no shine left. It is never too late to reach out to someone. Drug treatment centers are everywhere and are willing to help anyone who needs (wants) it. These treatment centers offer detoxification, rehabilitation, hospitalizing (if needed), outpatient programs, and most of all; no judgement. At the same time, the doctors will help you find the root of your addictions; depression, anxiety, loss. Giving you safe alternatives such as massage or acupuncture. You will have moral support in individual and group therapy. Group therapy will help show you that you are not alone and you don’t have to battle the addition by yourself anymore. All of your detox and progress is medically supervised by board-certified physicians.
Don’t let yourself be overcome by addition. There is a way out.
Everyone there wants the same outcome; a new, healthier you. Freedom to be yourself without the negative additives.

I will tell you another addiction and it is entering contests- no kidding I enter a lot but I know of some who are honestly online most of their waking hours.
I have to step away from all of this at times just to gain perspective.. for me I donate toys and most are for things I couldnt afford but non the less it takes time away from things I should be doing.
This is a great post, so many people are suffering with some type of addiction but they must know there are thousands of places to assist them. They must learn to set themselves free not only with the addiction but free within their minds.
Gr8 post!
