Mattel’s Brave: Merida Gem Styling Doll and Brave Castle & Forest Playset Review & Giveaway

One of the must do things on our summer agenda is to go watch Disney Pixar’s Brave.  Mattel was kind enough to send a Merida Gem Styling Doll and Brave Castle & Forest Playset  for my boys to review.

Merida Gem Styling Doll:

In the Disney/Pixar movie Brave, Merida is a gorgeous Scottish princess with fiery red hair and the spirit to match. This Gem Styling Merida doll brings all the movie excitement to life and features fun fashion play for your daughter! Reverse Merida’s cape for different looks and decorate her outfit or hair with the included gems.

  • Doll wears an exquisite blue riding gown
  • Cape features a dress-matching blue on one side and a sparkly golden print on the other
  • The bow-and-arrow accessory lets girls play out Merida’s love of archery
  • Lots of enchanting playtime for your little princess
  • Doll cannot stand alone.

Retails for $19.99.

Brave Castle & Forest Playset:

In the animated adventure Brave, Merida is a beautiful Scottish princess with fiery red hair and the spirit to match. Girls can recreate Merida’s life in the kingdom with this two-story castle, which features a bedroom with bed and a kitchen with table and chairs. For even more fun adventures, girls can send Merida out into the “forest” with her trusty horse, Angus, and her beloved archery set.

  • Includes Angus horse, Merida doll dressed in a unique riding fashion, and themed accessories
  • There are hidden surprises throughout the castle
  • Lots of enchanting playtime based on the Disney/Pixar pic!
  • Small scale Merida doll is 3.75″

Retails for $24.99

My take:   While I knew my boys would love the Castle & Forest Playset I was fully prepared for the doll to go to my niece.  However once my 4 year old saw it he claimed the doll as his own.  The boys love the hidden suprise of finding the triplets in the castle, in fact that is what they pretend to do the majority of the time playing hide and seek with the triplets seeking them as Merida and Angus.  I like the forest that is attached to the castle as it adds a whole different play area.  Be cautious of some of the accessories- the bed easily comes apart (I finally taped it together) and if you are not careful the lid to the chest can snap off- of course having 2 rough and tumble boys doesn’t help either.  As for the doll- the 2 sided cape is gogeous as is Merida’s hair.  We ultimately decided to attach the gems to her dress giving her a “beautiful look Mommy”.

Mattel is generously offering 1 lucky MommyPR reader their very own Merida Gem Styling Doll and Brave Castle & Forest Playset!
