A Beary Special Surprise Reunion

I swear Build A Bear has been so good to us. Not just the company itself, the meaning and love behind each Build A Bear you create and the reason for it. I have shared my stories on here and the Build A Bear Blog, about how as a military family moving so often, we have loved and loss many friendships. One that I refuse to allow to fall apart is that of my oldest and her best friend who relocated to Georgia.

Her mom and I planned a surprise reunion over spring break. Neither daughter knew what was about to happen, but you better believe we had a Build A Bear to join in.

Brooklyn was about to have a glamorous birthday party at the end of March and thought that just her favorite grandma was flying in to join. My daughter thought that grandma Kele was visiting her sister in NYC for the week and that the new Purple Hello Kitty we got was a present for her. I mentioned that this bear was special and to make sure grandma Kele’s “sister” got it with care & love. Neither of them suspected a thing for all the months we planned and saved up for this. A ticket from Washington to Atlanta was a big thing, but so worth it to know they would be reunited, even just for 2 weeks.

Sure enough the day came, and our Purple Hello Kitty got a ride on Frontier Airlines all the way across the US! Arriving in Georgia, grandma Kele started filming and told my daughter they actually were not in New York City but instead were somewhere else. She looked confused but ok with it. Then telling her to keep her eyes out for someone they knew, Brooklyn and Jas locked eyes and screamed each others names. Running to each other in full force and falling down laughing and hugging. It makes me tear up in happiness just writing about it. The fact that her mom and I were able to keep this love alive is just heartwarming to say the least. ( You can actually watch the video on our Facebook Page!!)

2 Weeks later, and non stop playing, Jas came home looking like she just had a spring break party like no other. I am pretty sure she slept for 2 days afterwards. It was so much fun, we are already planning another surprise meet up, and one even in Germany! (I wonder what the German Build A Bear stores look like?)

Our other Build A Bear was a cute Watercolor Bunny, which we sent to our niece Savannah. She had never had a Build A Bear before and kept asking if they had a tie-dye one. This Watercolor Bunny was perfect for her. She called and left us a message about how much she loved her Easter surprise.

….and I love using the word Beary. It’s like Very but more cuddly.
