Just in time for Halloween, Scholastic presents 5 not-so-scary stories – all treats and no tricks – with TEENY TINY AND THE WITCH-WOMAN…AND MORE SPOOKY HALLOWEEN STORIES! Sweeter and more colorful than a bag of candy corn, this themed DVD collection is highlighted by the lead story, “Teeny-Tiny and the Witch Woman”, a spooky-ooky story about a boy who outsmarts an old witch-woman before she can cook him and his brothers for dinner. Other witchy, creature-laden tales includes “The Boy with Two Shadows” by Margaret Mahy, “Los Gatos Black on Halloween” a lively poem which introduces a spooky array of creatures and Spanish words to little niños narrated by Maria Conchita Alonso, James’ Stevenson’s “What’s Under My Bed”, and the superstition-filled “King of the Cats” by Paul Galdone. Supporting reading skills, creativity and self-esteem, the DVD includes Scholastic’s innovative read-along function as well as an interview with “Los Gatos Black on Halloween” author Marisa Montes.
My take: Thank goodness for not so scary Halloween stories! Our favorite: What’s Under My Bed.
