Recycled Cardboard Birdhouse Review & Giveaway
I thought this would be really fun for my daughters. Something that they could color and create themselves with no tools required. Plus it would help the earth and animals. At only $17 (for 2), these bird houses are quite the fun, educational project!
Made from 100% recycled cardboard, at least 90% of which is postconsumer, the birdhouse is is made with NorShield® cardboard which renders it water-repellent, thus protecting it against bad weather and extending its life. The birdhouse was designed for many different species of birds, especially the blue tit, the downy woodpecker and the nuthatch. Easy to assemble, it does not require glue or twine; two screws, nails or staples are enough to make young birdwatchers happy!
The birdhouse will last the entire season and can be recycled at the end of its useful life, or even added to industrial compost (except for the sub-floor, which must be thrown in the garbage)
When the birdhouse arrives, it looks ginormous in its box. I let our youngest color it herself since her sister wasn’t home, and she has a blast. Mainly because I kept telling her it was for a bird to live in. That is all she cared about. Its very easy for any child to color, they can really use their imagination and create any color combo to make it completely unique. Then once its done, you simply fold it by the directions (very easy also), and hang it wherever you want. So far we have had several birds wondering what was inside (we added some feed). I love the fact that its recycled and can be left outside without worrying it will fall apart in the rain.
This is a simple project for the kids and makes for some great fun!
