YBF Skincare Review

I had the best package waiting for me when I returned from a couple of weeks away from home!  I was thrilled to be included in the summer press kit for YBF (Your Best Face) Skincare.  Here is the package I received:

YBF was developed by long time friends Darrell Owens and Kimberley Fristed, who left the corporate world to follow their dream.  They spent 18 months developing the formulas and packaging before landing their first retailer in 2007.  A few words from the founders:

At YBF, we’re taking a different approach than most brands and have examined the best in emerging skincare, developed highly concentrated formulas, and designed them to multi-task. That means fewer products for you to purchase and keep track of, while at the same time seeing and feeling results that are always superior. Texture, feel and rub-in were also critical factors. The results from our extensive formulation effort is a line of products that not only deliver high quantities of the best ingredients available, but are a joy to use and go on light, feeling pleasant to the skin.

Throughout development of the brand, we’ve genuinely focused on you looking your best. Our formulas help you deal with wrinkles, discoloration around the eyes, age spots, tone and the skin’s ability to protect and heal itself. We’re not about hype, but instead, improving the look of anyone at any age by protecting skin in ways other products just can’t.

The first products that I want to share with you are Defend and Nourish.  These are the first products that I tried and I have been using them regularly since the very first application.  As a 45 year old woman, my biggest concerns when it comes to skin care include the eye area, skin tone and preventing wrinkles as much as possible.  I am fortunate to have been able to try some really great skincare products over that past couple of years and because of that, I can be somewhat hard to impress.

With YBF Defend – it was love at first try!  I mean LOVE – the scent is heavenly (like a delightful almond breeze) and the feel is luxurious and light.

From YBF:  Defend against wrinkles and maintain youthful skin. Reduce oil and shine, hydrate and tone.  Pick your battles and win — against combination skin and early wrinkles. One day it’s the annoying oil slick and blemishes, the next it’s those little lines that creep in almost overnight. Combination skin can seem like it has a mind of its own.

Defend is great for combination skin and helps you tackle early sun damage and the onset of wrinkles with top anti-age ingredients including spin trap and the peptide, Syn-Coll. Vitamins and nylon-12 help you manage your complexion by absorbing oil through the day to keep you looking great.  APR:  $120 / 1 oz (30 ml)*

My Thoughts on Defend:  I have been using Defend both in the morning and at night with a light application over my entire face.  I was immediately in love with this product!  It is perfect for my combination skin and I am completely impressed with the results.  I have tried some amazing products in the past and I would rank YBF Defend right at the top!  It only took a few days for me to see noticeable results especially in my forehead where I have started to notice small lines developing.

My other area of concern is the eyes.  Nourish is a cream developed to sooth and tone the eye area.

From YBF:  Nourish is a protective, lightweight eye cream. It helps your eye area avoid the appearance of premature wrinkles while preventing loss of elasticity.  Nourish soothes irritated skin and tones the eye area helping you hold onto your youthful appearance.   This could be just the thing you need for that vibrant look you want.  (USD) $45 / .5 oz (15 ml) airless pump*

My Thoughts on Nourish:  As I get older, I definitely notice things showing more in the eye area.  Sleepless nights, stress and tension all effect my eyes.  Nourish is so soothing and feels absolutely wonderful around the eyes!  It helps reduce the puffiness and gives an overall fresher, firmer look to the delicate area around the eyes.  I am using this both in the morning and at night and it’s become my new go to eye cream!

I also received samples of Restore, Control and the Antioxidants Concentrate.

I have been applying a very small amount of Control to my forehead and temples, where I have a little bit of sun damage.  I have definitely noticed a lightening of the sun damage spots I have at my temples.  My skin looks brighter and the skin tone more  even.  I can’t think of any product that has given me a better result from using such a small amount of product.  I believe the difference must be in the use of highly concentrated, fresh ingredients.  Control is orange, which was a bit of a surprise coming out of the bottle.  The orange color comes from the antioxidant idebenone.  A little research of idebenone shows some fantastic results in anti-aging trials and is well known for its benefits as a supplement.  Control is packed full of highly effective ingredients – check out the impressive list here.  If you are going to try just one product, this one will probably be the one that gives you the greatest results – but it will cost you.  Idebenone on it’s own is not cheap and this gem will run you around $160 for 1 oz., but it truly is treasure in a bottle!

Restore is like an enhanced Vitamin C serum.  I occasionally get a bit of redness to my complexion and decided to try Restore overnight to see if it would help.  Restore was soothing and gave me a noticeable improvement in the redness that occasionally shows up in my face.  After just a few nights, the redness was gone.  I will continue to use this whenever I need an extra rejuvenating boost for my skin.  A 1 oz bottle will run you about $120.  As with this other products, a small amount is all that is needed for you to see the benefits.

When I saw that I could use the Antioxidants Concentrate as a serum for LED light treatments, I decided to try it that way.  It has been a while since I used my Baby Quasar and had run out of the serum long ago.  The Antioxidants Concentrate worked fabulous for this purpose, so much so that I will be using it prior to these treatments from now on.  I also added a small amount to my hand lotion with wonderful feeling results.  This is a great product to mix in to your favorite lotions to give an extra boost in their effectiveness.  SRV $55 for 1 oz.

Last but not least are the lips.  I am picky when it comes to putting products on my lips, usually preferring nothing but a light lip balm, so I was a bit hesitant to even give these products a try.  After being so impressed with the other product I decided to take the plunge and give Define a try.  Define promises to create a smoother, firmer contour and brighter, fuller lips.  With a large list of impressive ingredients, it’s no surprise that you can feel this product working right away.  Not the unpleasant swollen feeling that some lip plumpers give, but a more natural looking result that does not burn or sting your lips.  They definitely felt fuller, but not uncomfortable and the results seem to last a long time.  The name is very fitting because I felt like my lips were more defined and a bit brighter without having to add any color.  Excellent results for people like me that do not like to use a lip liner or lipstick on a regular basis.  This product will run you about $70 for .5 oz.  Again – a little goes a long way!

For someone who loves a great lip balm Quench will become your constant companion!  Quench gives a creamy softness to your lips that you will love!  It’s become an instant favorite that I am savoring for myself.  This will not be one that I will be offering up for my kids when they ask for my lip balm – nope this one is all for me!  SRV $15

Final Thoughts:  There is so much to love about YBF!  Products aside I love that this is a company owned and operated by two friends that stepped out to follow a dream.  It is obvious from the products that they have put so much care and thought into developing their line.  If I didn’t know better, I would swear that they had me in mind when they created these products – it feels like they were specifically designed just for me.  I love everything about them – from the packaging, to the feel, to the ingredients to the fresh amazing scent!  If I had to sum up my experience with YBF skincare in one word – it would be “superior”!
