Disney’s Tangled 2D Blu-ray + DVD Combo & Gift Pack Review & Giveaway
My boys and niece have been anxiously awaiting this next film from Disney: Tangled
Grossing over 400 million dollars in global theatrical sales to date, TANGLED, The Walt Disney Studios blockbuster animated feature that takes a modern twist on the famous hair-raising fable Rapunzel, debuts on March 29, 2011.
When the kingdom’s most wanted—and most charming—bandit Flynn Rider (voice of ZACHARY LEVI) hides out in a mysterious tower, he’s taken hostage by Rapunzel (voice of MANDY MOORE), a beautiful and feisty tower-bound teen with 70 feet of magical, golden hair. Flynn’s curious captor, who’s looking for her ticket out of the tower she’s been locked away in for years, strikes a deal with the handsome thief, and the unlikely duo sets off on an action-packed escapade, complete with a super-cop horse, an overprotective chameleon and a gruff gang of pub thugs. Tangled is a story of adventure, heart, humor and hair—lots of hair.
BONUS FEATURES
Blu-ray:
- Untangled: The Making of a Fairy Tale – Exactly how long is Rapunzel’s hair? How many lanterns were used? Where did Pascal’s name come from? Which Disney animated feature first utilized CG animation? These and more will be answered when Mandy Moore and Zach Levi take viewers on a kooky behind-the-scenes tour to learn how the filmmakers styled this film’s ?Golden Tresses.
- Deleted Scenes – Co-directors Byron Howard and Nathan Greno introduce three scenes and illuminate why they were ultimately cut out: The Jaunty Moose, Vigor the Visionary
- Extended Songs – The complete versions of two great songs are shared in a unique feature that explains the co-directors decision to scale them down: When Will My Life Begin and Mother Knows Best
- Two Original Storybook Openings – Two alternate versions of the film’s opening sequence described by co-directors Nathan Greno and Byron Howard.
- 50th Animated Feature Countdown – A video montage celebrating Tangled as the 50th film to join The Walt Disney Studios’ prestigious lineup of classic animated features.
- 9 Tangled Teasers – A collection of the most unique and quirky commercials made for the theatrical release of ?Tangled.? Some are spoofs based off of infomercials and/or breaking news, some are teasers and others are simply just funny filmstrips.
DVD & Movie Download:
- Two Original Storybook Openings – Versions 1 & 2
- 50th Animated Feature Countdown
My take: I must admit that I was as excited as the kids to watch this movie. Every one of us really liked this movie other than my 3 year old who lost interest a couple of times but always ventured back to see what was happening next. The songs were fantastic and the Mother Gothel wasn’t horrifically scary which is always nice when you have younger children. My 5 year old was easily able to follow the plot and immediately asked to see the movie again as soon as it was over. My oldest loved the dancing scene with the “unsavory characters” as I like to call them, while my favorite scene was when they were on the water with the laterns surronding Rapunzel and Flynn Rider.
We watched the two original storybook openings but all agreed the movie version was the best, but are still left wondering how Mother Gothel was able to take Rapunzel from the castle but by far the favorite bonus was the 50th Animated Feature Countdown where my boys were astounded by how many I knew.

Tangled, when watching it in the theater, always left me with a smile on my face and despite the cliche, a song in my heart. I hope to have that special feeling when watching it at home.

i can’t wait to see tangled because i love the story
I want to see Tangled because it reminds me of many of my favorite Disney films, like Beauty and the Beast, without it feeling like a tired retread, quite the reverse.
I want to see Tangled again because it was a great story and I really liked the humor.

I want to see Rapunzel again. She’s so cute, alive and like me. Plus, she’s handy with a frying pan.
Because it’s a Disney movie!

I’m looking forward to Tangled again because of the magnificent songs, from the upbeat, longing When Will My Life Begin (reminiscent of Belle) to the dark and oh-so-”Cruella de Vil” Mother Knows Best to the “you know something’s about to go horribly wrong but the song is gorgeous” romantic duet sung on the gondola.
I can’t wait to watch Tangled because my kids would love it
