I recently had the opportunity to try out Tropical Traditions Thick Rolled Oats and let me tell you this is my new all time favorite breakfast! I loved it so much that I dumped all my other oatmeal out in the trash because there is no way I am going back to that generic tasteless breakfast again!
Let me share a little about Tropical Traditions Organic Thick Rolled Oats from their site:
Oats provide high quality, well-balanced protein. Thick Rolled Oats and other whole grain oats are a good source of soluble fiber. Tropical Traditions Thick Rolled Oats are most commonly used for oatmeal, and cook in about 15 minutes. Thick Rolled Oats can also be used in granola and of course oatmeal cookies.
For some great recipes, get the Virgin Coconut Oil book.

I am on a pretty restrictive diet right now so I have made a few revisions to my morning oatmeal and boy did these oats from Tropical Traditions add just what I needed! This is now one of my favorite meals!
Here’s how you make it:
Bring 1 cup water to a boil, add a pinch of salt to the water
Add 1/2 cup oats to the water and simmer until you are at the desired consistency (about 10 minutes)
Grind 1 to 2 tablespoons of flax seed (I use my coffee grinder)
Pour oatmeal into the bowl, add the ground flax seed and a small handful of pepitas (pumpkin seeds) and almonds or walnuts.
Mix all together and drizzle Blue Agave Nectur on top
This morning we tried Oat Cakes and they were a big hit with the kids! They have come a long way with their healthy eating and have found so many new things that they love that they are now willing to try pretty much everything at least once! Don’t forget about my delicious Coconut Blueberry Oatmeal Smoothie recipe too! These are definitely the best oats I have ever had – they have a great texture and thickness to them and we are looking forward to trying out new ways to use them!
