I have become a pretty big fan of protein, natural energy and recovery drinks as well as on the go meal replacements for when I am super busy.  Sometimes you just don’t have the time to make sure that you are getting all of your nutrition needs in and Shakeology takes care of that in an incredibly delicious way!

I was thrilled to receive the Shakeology in chocolate for review and actually look forward to having it every day!  A look over the ingredient list is pretty impressive.  There are 70 ingredients in each Shakeology meal replacement shake, and it is rich in vitamins A, B, C, D, E, and K, as well as minerals like zinc, magnesium, calcium, and iron that are derived from whole-food sources. It also includes a powerful blend of superfruits like acai, goji berries, and camu-camu (a superfruit is exceptional in that it has extremely high health promoting compounds which help to fight certain diseases and ailments) and includes more than 20 different antioxidents and phytonutrients. Let’s not forget that it also provides a great source of fiber, prebiotics, and digestive enzymes which should help eliminate those built-up toxins more efficiently and promote the better absorption of  your nutrients.  It is also worth noting that there are a couple of things that are NOT found in Shakeology which are refined sugar, caffeine, gluten and artificial sweeteners.

Here are a couple of my favorite recipes using Shakeology:

CHOCOLATE COVERED STRAWBERRIES
1 Scoop Chocolate Shakeology Powder
1 Cup Ice
1 Cup Milk (almond is nice)
1/2 Cup Frozen Strawberries
1 Banana
Blend well, pour into a large glass and enjoy!  You can also substitute  the frozen strawberries for blueberries for a delicious Chocolate Covered Blueberry shake!

CHOCOLATE COCONUT DELIGHT
1 Scoop Chocolate Shakeology Powder
1 Banana
1 Tbsp Coconut Cream (or to taste)
1 Cup Ice
1 Cup Almond, Coconut or Fat Free Milk

I have not tried it just mixed with water because I love it so much as a full meal replacement, and made using the above recipes it is such a thick and delicious shake!  It tastes and feels like you are having something you really shouldn’t be, but after drinking it I am full and feel so good.  I get a nice boost of energy from it in the afternoon, which is usually my hardest time of the day.

My Thoughts: I have tried many meal replacement drinks and this is by far the best I have ever tasted.  Nothing else I have tried even comes close to the nutrition you will find in just one serving of Shakeology!  The cost is $119.95 for the 30 meal supply, which at first sounded a little high, but actually works out to about $4 per meal, which is less than the single serving salad that I usually have and packs a much bigger nutritional punch!  Another outstanding product by Beachbody!
