I am always looking for creative ways to keep my kids active, especially now that school and activities are officially on break for the summer.  We absolutely love our Wii for getting us all moving, and sometimes even grooving, for a great evening of family fun time.  When I was offered the opportunity to review JumpStart’s new Family Fitness game, I was all in!

We received the game really quickly and the kids couldn’t wait to get started.   The first thing we did was open it up to see what types of activities we could do.  We were all excited to see basketball, volleyball, football (including tire runs!), running, speed skating, flying – yes that’s right JumpStart gets you flying!!!, bike racing, step aerobics, boxing, pinball and dodge ball (I am not good at this one by the way!).  Also important to know is that it’s rated E for Everyone with Comic Mischief by the ESRB!

To top it all of before you get started you get to make your own profile.  This is always a favorite for the kids and I love seeing what characters they create for themselves.  My girls tried several of the games themselves first and it wasn’t long before they had both worked up quite a sweat!

My oldest says that the race games are her favorite, especially the running.  My youngest loved the volleyball and was pretty good at it too!  We had a great time with the speed skating too, but I am pretty sure that my “Jumpee” had a serious headache from my lack of ducking under the barriers by the time we were done!  Some really cool features are that you can track your calories burned and have access to expert tips for ways to stay healthy.  Brooke Burke tells the kids herself how to get the most out of every move and as a mother of 4 kids herself, she was a great choice for JumpStart to create a fitness game with.

My Thoughts: Anything that is going to make fitness fun and appealing to my children is going to be a huge hit with me!  We had a blast trying out all the different games that JumpStart’s Get Moving Family Fitness game offers and were able to turn it into a pretty good workout without the kids even realizing that what we were doing was in fact good for them!  The game choice variety is great and there were enough options that my 6 year old could be good at as well as enough that were challenging enough for my oldest, to make it a favorite for both of them!  If you are looking for a family game that will make fitness fun then JumpStart Get Moving Family Fitness is the game for you!

Adventure Island looks like fun as well. Playing video games is so much more productive when it is active and makes them use their thinking and exploring skills as well.
