Pierre the Penguin: A True Story Book Review & Giveaway

Did you know that today (April 25) is World Penguin Day?  World Penguin Day coincides with the annual northward migration of penguins.  This happens each year on or around April 25th.

Sleeping Bear Press is pleased to introduce Pierre the Penguin: A True Story

When Pierre, an African penguin living at the California Academy of Sciences began to lose his feathers, the staff at the Academy tried heat lamps and medication to help him feel more comfortable, but nothing helped.  The loss of his waterproof feathers caused serious problems for Pierre. He was afraid to swim in the cold water and the other penguins grew fearful of his strange appearance.

While walking her dog on a rainy day, Pam, the aquatic biologist working with Pierre was inspired…a wetsuit for a penguin? Why not?

In this delightful new book, children of all ages will learn how creativity and ingenuity saved little Pierre. Told in rhyme by noted I SPY author Jean Marzollo, this heart-warming story will charm the scientist and animal-lover in everyone and is a great springboard for a variety of science lessons.

My take:  This book is absolutely delightful…from the heart-warming story to the wonderful illustrations.  My boys and I had a great time reading this book and I loved how a problem was solved with a little creativity!  This has been my favorite book from Sleeping Bear  Press thus far.

Sleeping Bear Press is generously offering 1 lucky MommyPR reader their very own Pierre the Penguin Book.

We love penguins – we even have a cat named Penguin – black and white, of course. Another book we would like is: 1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi by Michael Shoulders
