Joanie Leeds: I’m a Rock Star Kids CD Review & Giveaway

I am back with another kids CD for my music time with my boys!  We have been having such a good time rocking out to all these great artists.  Today I bring you Joanie Leeds:  I’m a Rock Star CD:

 

Joanie’s soulful, “rock solid” voice — plus a remarkable ability to connect with kids through her songwriting —  won her a 2008 Parents’ Choice Award for her debut children’s album, City Kid.  Parents’ Choice reviewer Lynne Heffley praised Joanie’s “vivacious soprano and gentle rock ‘n roll approach.”
 
Building on the momentum of that Parents’ Choice Award-winning album, Joanie Leeds will soon release a new CD, I’m a Rock Star, which dances across a constellation of musical genres, ranging from indie & classic rock to hip-hop, from folk to jazz, from R & B to cartoon.
 
Joanie says, “I love the way City Kid, turned out, but I wanted to bring a more sophisticated sound to I’m a Rock Star. The blueprint for I’m A Rock Star includes exploration, self-expression, and variety, all in a musically authentic context.  I wanted everything to be fun and positive, but it was also important for me not to make musical compromises. Children deserve nothing less than an authentic musical experience. The magic really began when, on tour in Nashville last year, I met some incredible musicians, and we ended up recording together at the amazing Zodlounge music production studio. (Zodlounge has produced albums for artists like Kenny Loggins and Leann Rimes.) These guys – the musicians and my production team — really took this project to the next level.  I’m so excited about the way the album turned out that I can’t wait for the release!”

I’m a Rock Star will be available at www.citykidmusic.com, amazon.com, cdbaby.com, and at specialty toy and bookstores across the country on March 23 for $15.00.

My take:  Very upbeat positive dance to the music kind of CD.  Our favorites:  Sunglasses, More Cowbell (very,very favorite), Jump Jump and It Was the Elf.

    Even after reading your review, I didn’t get that she does kids’ music in ADDITION to adult music and it looks like a lot of her shows are right down on Bleeker Street. Been there!
