Curel Review & Giveaway

I recently received three Curel products to try out which included the Life’s Stages Menopause & Beyond Skin Fortifying Moisture Lotion, Targeted Therapy Fast-Absorbing Hand & Cuticle Cream and the Targeted Therapy Deep-Penetrating Foot Cream.

Curél® Life’s Stages® Skin Fortifying Moisture Lotion helps prevent symptoms of hormonally changing skin. This rich lotion locks in moisture to prevent future dryness and leaves extra-dry skin hydrated, making it soft and supple. It maintains skin’s elasticity and contains an ingredient known to boost collagen production. This lotion is non-greasy, dermatologist tested, hypoallergenic and will not clog pores.  Size: 13 oz *

My Thoughts: A lotion for menopause and beyond?  When I pulled this out of the box, I just had to check it out.  What could be different about this lotion as compared to others?  With ingredients such as elastin, collagen and grape seed extract, this lotion works to combat three stages of menopausal skin which are itchy, dry skin and loss of elasticity.  I actually have a terrible time with itchy skin and some lotions help with this, but many don’t.  I am happy to say that this one absolutely does.  It is probably my favorite scent out of the three products that I tried as well.  It has a light delicate fragrance that does not overpower or compete with any other fragrance you might have on.  I also have to add that my youngest daughters skin is extremely dry.  Especially so this year when we have had to have the furnace running for weeks at a time, instead of our usual of a day here and there.  When I apply lotion to her skin, it is great for a few hours but after about half a day, her skin is usually turning flaky again.  Since Curel’s Life’s Stages lotion is such a creamy, high moisture lotion I decided to go ahead and give it a try on her skin even though it is intended for menopausal skin.  This lotion kept her skin hydrated all day and I did not have to reapply it until after her bath!  She loves it and she smells good too!

The next product that I want to talk about is the Curel Targeted Therapy Fast-Absorbing Hand & Cuticle Cream.

Providing immediate healing relief to dry hands, this powerful formula includes soothing soy milk, softening monoï oil, and naturally healing vitamin E. Rough cuticles are softened with just one use, and hands stay soft and smooth – never greasy – even through several hand washings. Size: 3.5 oz

My Thoughts: This is a perfect lotion to keep handy at your desk if you are working with papers all day.  I always find that I need to apply lotion during the day and this one works great to moisturize without leaving a greasy residue behind.  It immediately softens cuticles and makes the skin on my hands appear smoother and softer.  At a price of about $4.50 I think it’s an excellent value.

The final product that I want to share with you is the Targeted Therapy Deep-Penetrating Foot CreamFeaturing highly emollient shea butter, rich coconut milk, and naturally healing vitamin E, this cream noticeably smooths and softens dry cracked skin in just two nights, significantly improving the look and feel of even the driest feet. Size: 3.5 oz*

My Thoughts: I have mentioned before my odd inability to sleep without applying lotion to my feet before I go to bed.  The timing for this couldn’t have been better because I was out of my supply of foot lotion and had been applying hand lotion to them for a few days (not a good substitute).  The lotion felt wonderful the first night and there was a noticeable difference in the softness the second night.  This lotion claims to hydrate and protect your feet and heels for 24 hours.  I would say that it absolutely does the job!  I love everything about this lotion except for the fragrance which is a bit too flowery for me.  But it works so great that it really didn’t bother me, since my feet are going right under the covers anyway.  It’s not offensive or anything,  just not my favorite scent. It won’t stop me from using or purchasing this foot cream, but if they wanted to develop an unscented version – I’d be all for it!

What’s New and Exciting: Curél has launched a new interactive, online tool, the Skin Advisor that offers skin analysis and provides advice on common skincare issues.

Dr. Westley partnered with Curel to create the interactive tool on curel.com and has this to say about the Skin Advisor:  “… designed to help users identify and address skincare concerns like dryness, itching, allergies and eczema, to name a few. 10-20% of children have eczema, and many continue to suffer in adulthood. One of the most common complaints I see in my office is dry skin, itchiness and skin prone to rashes. People don’t know what regimen is right for their skin and many times parents are also confused what they should be using for their children’s skin. Once consumers complete the Skin Advisor questionnaire, they can read more about the various skin issues covered at curel.com. If users still have additional questions, they can submit those questions online and I will answer them personally and provide additional insight.”

I used the Skin Adviser to figure out which product I should be using on my daughters very dry skin.  The Skin Adviser recommended the NEW Curél® Itch Defense™ lotion which will help re-balance her skin – what a great new tool!

Where to Buy: Curel products can be purchased through their online site (www.curel.com) at Drugstore.com as well as several online sites and retail places like Walgreens, Walmart, Target and CVS.

Win it: I am happy to tell you that one (1) MommyPR reader will win the three Curel products that I reviewed:  Life’s Stages Menopause & Beyond Skin Fortifying Moisture Lotion, Targeted Therapy Fast-Absorbing Hand & Cuticle Cream and the Targeted Therapy Deep-Penetrating Foot Cream. (ARV $15.00)
