TruBamboo Review & Giveaway
When I found out that I would get to review the next product for TruBamboo, I was so excited! I know how much Angela loved her cutting board and I was thrilled to get the chance to try something out as well.
I may sound odd to say that a cutting board is beautiful, but oh man is this board a beauty! I received the Medium Ranna TruGrip board and knew immediately that I want to line my floor with them. At a price of only $14.99 maybe I could at least afford to replace my tile entryway and it would be so beautiful! Okay so maybe not that great of an idea, but I am telling you that I was
completely captivated by the beauty of bamboo and now have a goal to have bamboo floors one day!
It took me a couple of days to work up the nerve to actually do something with my new cutting board. I surly did not want to stain it, cut it or create any kind of damage to the beautiful new center piece of my kitchen! So the thing I got up enough nerve to do… was oil my board. All that did is make it even more beautiful! But I knew that I couldn’t stop there so after a couple of more times with a complete mineral oil wipe rub down, my board was polished, protected and ready for use.
About the TruGrips Cutting Boards: “The TruGrips™ cutting board collection combines the beauty and sustainability of bamboo with TruCups™innovation. TruCups™ are durable little “feet” that provide a non-slip surface and also raise the board from the countertop, preventing water damage. And like bamboo, TruCups™ are made from an environmentally friendly raw material. TruGrips™ “feet” make this the smartest cutting board you’ll ever have.“*
My Thoughts: I love the little gripper feet on the bottom of the board. They hold it in place perfectly so that there is no sliding around on the counter while you are using the board. This medium board is a perfect size and fits nicely in the cabinets (not that I have actually put it away, since it is still displayed on my counter top, but if I ever do, it will easily fit into the cabinets!). Did I mention how beautiful the bamboo is? I was a little worried about using the board because I didn’t want a bunch of knife marks all over this board. But when I read TruBamboo’s site I found out that bamboo is actually harder than maple but lighter weight than oak (good for when the kids are helping). Plus bamboo has anti-bacterial properties that makes it perfect for cutting boards and utensils! So now that I have used it a few times, I am pleased to say that there are no knife marks so far. It washes up really easily and still looks completely new! I could not love my TruGrips cutting board more and you just can’t beat the $14.99 price!
In addition to the Medium Ranna TruGrip cutting board I also received the 6 Piece Kitchen Utensil Set:

About TruBamboo Kitchen Utensils: “Trubamboo™ kitchen utensils are all made of 100% organic bamboo. These utensils are both eco-friendly and aesthetically pleasing. This makes Trubamboo™ kitchen utensils a wonderful alternative to most plastic and wood kitchen utensils. Another great benefit of Trubamboo™ kitchen utensils is their durability. The production process is 100% natural, using no chemicals or dyes.
Trubamboo™ kitchen utensils are also safe to use on non-stick cookware. Bamboo also has natural antibacterial properties which maintain sterile surface when cleaned and cared for properly.”*
My Thoughts: These kitchen utensils are super lightweight and easy to care for! They are even safe to put in the dishwasher as long as you place them on the top shelf. They look fantastic, don’t take up very much room and at only $6.99 for all 6 pieces – the price is crazy good! Now I am truly wondering why I have been using my old plastic, melted, scraped up, unattractive ones for way too long! TruBamboo gets an A++ from me!!
Because of it’s great eco-friendly qualities, we are seeing more and more products made of bamboo these days and I love this quote from TruBamboo’s site, so I wanted to share it with you here:
Bamboo in Life “A man can sit in a bamboo house under a bamboo roof, on a bamboo chair at a bamboo table, with a bamboo hat on his head and bamboo sandals on his feet. He can at the same time hold in one hand a bamboo bowl, in the other hand bamboo chopsticks and eat bamboo sprouts. When through with his meal, which has been cooked over a bamboo fire, the table may be washed with a bamboo cloth, and he can fan himself with a bamboo fan, take a siesta on a bamboo bed, lying on a bamboo mat with his head resting on a bamboo pillow. His child might be lying in a bamboo cradle, playing with a bamboo toy. On rising he would smoke a bamboo pipe and taking a bamboo pen, write on a bamboo paper, or carry his articles in bamboo baskets suspended from a bamboo pole, with a bamboo umbrella over his head. He might then take a walk over a bamboo suspension bridge, drink water from a bamboo ladle, and scrape himself with a bamboo scraper (handkerchief)”*.Quoted from the book; A Yankee in the Yangtze, by William Edgar Geil.
