Laugh and Learn Book & DVD Set Review and Giveaway

Though I have read many very informative childbirth education books at the local Barnes and Nobles none have kept me as interested as the laugh and learn book and videos. The Writer Sheri Bayles truly is the perfect companion throughout your Educational experience; with this set of videos she is to the point and not at all judgmental about different views on child birthing (natural birth, epidural or no epidural)!! She really makes learning about Newborn care, Childbirth education and breastfeeding basics an entertaining yet educational expierence!

The first video out of the three I watched was the Laugh and Learn about Childbirth. Though I am not pregnant I did just deliver my 4th son at the end of July and while I thought I knew everything there is to know about childbirth, Sheri Bayles goes above and beyond what even my Obstetrician ever had. She talks about everything from A to Z including; Signs of Labor, Breathing Techniques, Comfort Measures, Delivery, Pushing, the knowledge of Cord Blood banking and so much more.

It was wonderful to see actual real women with real babies in the breastfeeding and newborn care videos. She had some wonderful ideas for sore breasts due to breastfeeding. She recommended cutting a head of cabbage (not lettuce, doesn’t have the same effect)  in half and then putting it in the refrigerator and grabbing a few pieces at a time to stuff in your nursing bra to relieve the pain of sore nipples, now why I never thought of this I will never know. Sheri made sure to cover all the key areas and then some. A few of the lessons were on breastfeeding positions, how to breastfeed twins, overcoming obstacles and how to choose the right nursing bras nightgowns and nursing pads.

My husband definitely agrees with me that even though we have seen many childbirth education videos, weather it was before delivery at child birthing classes of after delivery before we left the hospital, nothing kept our attention as well as Sheri had. We really felt as if Sheri were our own personal nurse, just a sort of comfort that she really knew what she was talking about and very much enjoys what she does.

It was so nice to be able to watch and learn about so many different parts of childbirth, newborn care and breastfeeding in the comfort of our own home and on our own time. Thank you for such an educational experience Sheri Boyles, it’s wonderful having such an honest opinion from a Nurse rather than one that’s just “following the fad”!! Sheri also talked about what products she liked best and why, such as different breastpumps (should you rent or buy, should you get an automatic or manual, double or singe?).  and something I have never heard of before……why you shouldn’t start out breastfeeding with a Boppy or a My Breast Friend pillow until you and your baby are more comfortable with breastfeeding (grab her DVD set to find out why). Good thinking Sheri, as I have said previously you really do see above and beyond what any obstetrician I have personally ever dealt with does and I feel very comfortable with your teachings. There are so many questions among new parents and Sheri covers them all!!! I would recommend this Book & Dvd set to any new mother and father!!

I never knew that they labeled your pelvic area with plus and negative area’s. Knowing that the baby should drop by 36 weeks is helpful. I also didnt know the head was the biggest part of the body! I have heard stories about the sholders getting stuck so I assumed they were the biggest! Can you tell I am a first time mom? I was laughing on how she was talking about the frequent urination at night! that is so me instead of getting out on my side of the bed I think I will try climbing over Hubby to let him know I have to go! Hey his daughter wakes me up I should be able to tell him what she is saying!! lol

    Thanks
