Money Savvy Pig Savings Bank Review & Giveaway

My 3 year old has become very interested in dollars and cents as of late. He loves to watch the interaction between mommy and the cashier, loves when his daddy hands him loose change and we have recently begun talks of having an allowance for chores. I have been searching for a piggy bank which would help teach lessons in money and I think I have found the perfect one in the Money Savvy Pig. First a little about Money Savvy Generation:
I am Susan Beacham and I have a dream. I am the mother of two girls. I was also a private banker, who repeatedly saw in my professional life how painful and difficult it was for my adult clients to deal with even the most basic concepts of personal finance. In 1999 I decided to do something about this and co-founded Money Savvy Generation with my husband, Michael.
My dream is to teach money management basics to elementary school aged children, a segment of our educational system virtually untouched because of the perceived complexity of the subject matter. Stated differently, I wanted to get “out in front” of money management behavior before bad habits set in. To start to make my dream come true I went into my local schools on a volunteer basis to teach my “Mrs. Money Talks Money” eight week curriculum. Armed with my Money Savvy Pig and motivating experiences with these school children, along with the responsibility I felt toward my own children, the Money Savvy Kids Basic Personal Finance Curriculum came into existence.
As stated before I was give the opportunity to review the Money Savvy Pig Savings Bank:

One slot piggy banks have been around for….centuries. But the world has changed. Now we have a highly sophisticated financial system, a system whose complexity has outstripped the ability of most adults, many of whom grapple with credit card debt, even bankruptcy.
Personal finance education needs to start young. How? With the same universally loved childhood toy, the piggy bank….but with a 21st century twist! The Money Savvy Pig piggy bank has four chambers, one for each of the four money management choices a child should be taught from the time they are small. They are SAVE, SPEND, DONATE, and INVEST.
Each pig retails for $16.99 and comes in a variety of 6 colors.
My take: I love this savings bank! By far my favorite aspect is the 4 chambers. We have already talked about 3 of the 4 components. My 3 year old is easily grasping the idea of saving and spending. We are working on the donate aspect right now.
I also love that they have a Money Savvy Kids@Home kit for children 6-11. It includes any of the 4-chambered banks as well as components from their EIFLE (Excellence in Financial Literacy Education) Award-winning school curriculum, but in a one-to-one format. Along with the bank, the kit includes a parent handbook, student workbook, CD with multiple slides for each of the lessons, a coloring and activity book and a glossy Money Poem poster for $39.95.
Money Savvy Generationhas generously offered 1 lucky MommyPR reader the chance to own their very own Money Savvy Pig Savings Bank!
