90 Day Health & Fitness Challenge – 60 Day Update P90X

In some ways it seems like this is taking forever to lose weight and get in shape but then again it has only been 60 days!

I have dropped about a size and a half.  My husband says there is  no way that I’ve only lost 14.5 lbs, but that is exactly what the scale shows.  I’m not sure how this works exactly but my body fat percentage has dropped almost 10%.  I think that’s pretty good.  But of course I want more LOL!

Still when I really think about it, if Angela had not asked us to support her by joining her in her fitness goals I would most likely have gained at least a couple of pounds in the last 60 days.  I have been steadily gaining weight since I turned 40 about 3 1/2 years ago.  It didn’t matter how much or how little I ate, I still gained.  I’ve tried so many different programs and nothing ever worked after the magic number of 40 so basically I just kind of gave up.  Let me tell you it has been hard – but it is working!  I can still do intensive workouts!  I can still reshape my body and I can still be healthy!  But if you need to get in shape, lose some weight – don’t wait until after you are 40 – it’s hard and it hurts a lot more – elbows, knees, hips etc… :)

I’m adding the side view this time, just because it helps to show the changes following the P90X program has made.

As I am looking ahead at the final 30 days, I see that they have snuck in an extra week!

Here is what the P90X Fitness Guide says about this next Phase:  “No pain, no gain is what  this phase is all about.  At this stage, you should be ready to leave everything you’ve got on your exercise mat.  No holding back, no getting used to anything-this will be the time to push to exhaustion and muscle failure on every single set!”

I can’t help but wonder if there will be a noticeable change after the next 5 weeks.  I kind of feel like Amanda on the Biggest Loser.  She works so hard and her body is changing so much, but as far as pounds go she just doesn’t drop them like everyone else does.  So I am not focusing on the number of pounds, but more the fact that I could slide into my size 12 jeans and they fit perfectly.  Who knows maybe by the end of the next 5 weeks I will be able to pull out my 10′s and see if they are still in style :)

    Awesome! You can definitely see the difference in the pictures and that 10% body fat drop is amazing!

    You are doing such a great job. I can definitely see the changes you have had. The last 3 weeks of P90X are where the big changes come in.

    Don’t focus too much on the weight. You are building muscle right now which eats away at the fat. As long as you stick with it the weight will go bye bye. Still though, 14 pounds lost and 10% body fat gone so far. You should be so proud.

    Have you had lots of people asking what you are doing? I didn’t see on here that you were a Beachbody Coach. Its where you get discounts on products and can earn some money on the side.

  3. Dawn – you are doing a great job! Keep up the hard work! I just saw the link to your page here under the P90X Facebook page and had to check it out. I see that your disclaimer said that you are not being paid to promote P90X and are just doing this of your own accord which is fantastic – but if you have ever thought about being “paid” for it you should consider being an Independent Beachbody Coach like me. I can tell you that you have what it takes – you are already a product of the product – PLAY – SHAKE – and SHARE it what it’s all about.     DawnS, Keep in mind when you are getting on the scale that the scale doesn;t distinguish between fat and muscle. Muscle weighs significantly more than fat. Or think of it this way a pound of fat takes up much more volume than a pound of muscle. Make sense? With your numbers you have posted, it looks like you have lost 19lbs of fat and added 5 lbs of muscle. If you started @ 191 and lost 10% BF (19lbs) and your current weight only shows a 14lb loss, it would make sense that you lost fat and ADDED muscle. Here is my example… When I did P90X the first time (Feb-Apr) I only lost 5 lbs. I am 6’3″ and went from 195 to 190. My BF % dropped 5% from 20 to 15. I also added 2 inches to my chest, an inch to each arm and dropped 3 inches in my waist and hips. So it looked like I lost more than 5lbs, but because I made a transformation (fat to muscle) I was stronger, leaner and in better cardiovascular shape.

    It includes fitness tips, and teaches you getting in shape. Weight loss should not be done using extreme diets or related things like that! Getting in shape should be much easier. Find a fitness buddy and guide each other the path down low body fat today!
