Are you ready for Thanksgiving? I know I am! I’m not ready in the sense that I have all my food and plans set in stone already , but I’m ready in the sense that I’ve waited almost a year to experience the close family, good food, and fun that comes with Thanksgiving!

In preparation for Thanksgiving, Butterball sent me the new Masterbuilt Indoor Turkey Fryer to review and a coupon for $15 off a whole frozen or fresh Butterball turkey. Since I knew I’d be deep-frying the turkey soon, I set out my hunt for a fresh Butterball. Sadly, the few grocery stores I visited only had a couple store-brand turkeys in their freezers. I was told to rest-assured that in only a couple weeks, I’d see Butterballs overflowing the freezers. I ended up settling for a fresh, store-brand turkey breast (instead of the whole turkey).Masterbuilt Turkey Fryer

Once I got Mr. Tom’s front half home (we name our turkey every year and for some strange reason his name is always the same…”Tom the Turkey”) I set about preparing for his painful frying process. Lucky for me, the frying process was not painful at all! Butterball’s Indoor Turkey Fryer is easy to use and makes the tastiest fried turkey! The absolute most important rule to remember – do NOT fry a frozen or partially-frozen turkey! As long as your Mr. Tom is not frozen, you may commence frying. First, pour about 2 gallons of peanut oil into the fryer. Since I was only frying a turkey breast, I was able to get away with only adding 1 gallon of oil, but for whole turkeys you will need 2 gallons. With the simple touch of a button, the fryer was on and warming. Once heated, Mr. Tom was plopped into his basket-of-doom and slowly lowered into the hot oil. Based on your turkey’s weight, you can easy calculate the frying time, then set the digital timer on the fryer. When it beeps, use the included tool to safely remove the turkey basket from the oil. The time to fry a turkey is significantly less than the conventional stuffed turkey in the oven method. My 2 lb. turkey breast fried at 325º F for just over 15 minutes. For whole turkeys, the frying time is 3-4 minutes per pound at 375º F.

The Butterball fryer has some great features that cooks and moms alike will truly appreciate. For moms, the best feature was the break-away Masterbuilt Turkey Fryer 2cord. The cord was short so it wouldn’t hang over the edge of counters and if tugged, it automatically falls away from the fryer. This way, the fryer will not fall on a child because they were pulling on the cord. Another great feature is the folding lid with a window in the top. The folding lid was awesome so that when opened, it’s not high up the air or leaning far back. The window is great to have so you can watch as your Mr. Tom becomes perfectly fried. Also, during clean up the hidden drain valve makes draining the oil out of the fryer super quick and easy.

It’s difficult for me to find anything I didn’t like about this fryer! Mr. Tom turned out super juicy on the inside and slightly crispy on the outside – just how I love it! The fryer holds up to a 14 lb. turkey, has great features, fries more than just turkeys…what’s not to love? Plus Butterball offers a “Turkey Talk-line” through November and December so you can have all your puzzling turkey questions answered! The Masterbuilt Indoor Turkey Fryer retails for $160 and is well worth the money for turkey connoisseurs!

Butterball wants you to love your Mr. Tom this Thanksgiving, too! I have five Butterball coupons to giveaway to five very lucky Mommy PR readers for $15 off your Butterball frozen or fresh turkey! If you don’t plan on cooking a turkey the size of your firstborn then these coupons will probably get you a free turkey (or very close to it)!
