90 Day Health & Fitness P90X Mid-Point Update

Hey everyone!  I wanted to give a quick update since we are midway through our 90 Day Health & Fitness Challenge.

I hope everyone is feeling great and doing well!  People are starting to comment on the way I look and it is becoming noticeable to people outside of my immediate family.  At this half way point I have only lost about 12 lbs BUT I have lost 10% of my body fat and 3″ from my waist area and I feel GREAT!

p90x_DVDAt this point I am wondering what the next 6 weeks will bring.  If I maintain the same rate that my body is changing at right now (I swear I can see a difference every day!) then I can’t wait to see what I will look like after another 6 weeks of P90X!

I love, love, love the variety of the workouts.  I’ve had trouble with my Cardio X DVD so substituted a video I already had (30 Day Shred) and tried level 3.  I not only finished it (something I could not do a couple of months ago – and that was on level 1) but I was like “What Jillian (trainer from the Biggest Loser)- is that all you got for me? lol!”  I love how strong I feel.  There is still pudge for sure – but under that I can feel my muscles growing stronger all the time and I love the feeling!

The eating plan has changed too.  A little more carbs and a little less protein seems to be a lot easier for me and gives me more energy!  I no longer crave sweets – which is good since we have a big stack of Halloween candy in our pantry right now.  I have not even been tempted and I hope that I can maintain that over the weekend!

It’s amazing to me how many people ask me what I am doing to lose weight and when I tell them I am doing P90X they know what I am talking about and they have either tried it themselves or know someone that is following the program.  I hear things like “I got such great results from it for the time I was doing the program – but then life got in the way and I stopped doing the workouts!”  When I ask how long they did it the most common answer is “three weeks”.  Three weeks?  The first couple of weeks are the hardest – don’t give up!!!!  It is hard, it is a major time commitment and you have to force yourself to do the workouts and follow the nutrition plan.  In other words you have to learn self discipline and how to push yourself.  When I am pushing my body to work even harder than it wants to – I feel like I am in control again.  When I was eating burgers and chips and not working out – I was not controlling my weight or taking charge of my health!  I let my cravings and self comfort be in charge.  Becoming healthy and losing weight is a serious commitment, but once you decide that it’s what you want for your life and you take control, you will make it happen!

The one thing I am struggling with is staying hydrated, or drinking enough water.  I have been out of my Herbal Water for over a week now and plain old water is just not the same!  I had even requested that our local Whole Foods start carrying Ayala’s Herbal Water, but they haven’t gotten any in yet.  When this challenge is done I am going to miss my Herbal Water and am so thankful that they are sponsoring our 90 Day Challenge.  I have become a major fan of their flavored water and can’t recommend them enough!  I LOVE Ayala’s Herbal Water and am certain that I will be a loyal customer for many years to come!

If you have any specific questions about the P90X program that you would like me to answer, please leave a comment and I will be happy to answer!

A couple of more things that I wanted to add…  It had been a few months since I was able to wear my wedding ring and after 30 days I was able to get it back on without feeling like it was squeezing my finger way too much – now not only can I comfortable wear my ring it also slides on and off with no tugging or hard pulling at all!  Woo hoo!!!!!

One last thing – my kids like to have wheel barrel races.  You know where they are up on their hands and someone holds their feet and we see who can race across the room walking on their hands the fastest?  Well they wanted to do that the other day and I told them I had a better idea – something we could all do – walking push-ups!  Just like they sound you go into a push-up position and walk on your hands and toes around the room.  Let me just tell you that I smoked the whole family!  I know – they are just 6 and 9 (hubby didn’t even try, but I’d have smoked him too!) but still I WON!!!  Now they have to call me the Walking Push-up Queen for the next two weeks lol!  (totally kidding on that whole name thing – but maybe if I’d have thought of that sooner it would have happened heh…).

A very special thank you to our sponsors:

I’m glad to hear it is working!!

If you want to boost it up a little bit after you are done with the P90X program, you should try going to a local CrossFit. It is similar to the program you are doing now (constantly changing workouts), but you get more of the cardio which P90X is sometimes known for missing.

As an example, through training at CrossFit 5 days a week, I was able to run a 10 K out of the blue!!

I suggest giving it a try! You will love the team environment. Some gyms even have CrossFit Kids!

    Good luck with your journey!
