SmartKnitKIDS Seamless Socks Review & Giveaway

sokks2-vert

I have a constant battle with my 18 month old when it comes to wearing shoes and socks.  While he absolutely loves wearing shoes (he seriously has a shoe fetish), he hates putting the socks on.  If I am not quick enough he takes the first sock off while I am putting the second one on, and of course if the shoes are taken off the socks are quick to follow…it is really frustrating.  My 3 year old hates the seams of the socks, we are constantly readjusting the seams.  SmartKnitKids has a great product called SmartKnitKIDS sensitivity seamless socks.  First a little about the parent company KnitRite:

Knit-Rite, Inc. is a leading designer, marketer, and manufacturer of innovative textiles for medical and consumer markets. Founded in 1923, Knit-Rite remains committed to the continued research and development, manufacturing and distributing of products that deliver healthy benefits for a better quality of life.

KnitRite generously sent me SmartKnitKIDS Seamless Sensitivity Socks for my children, SmartKnit Seamless AFO & KAFO socks since I am a physical therapist, and Therafirm light trouser socks for myself.

What are SmartKnitKIDS Seamless Sensitivity Socks?

Knit the same way a caterpillar spins its cocoon, SmartKnitKIDS socks are started at the toe and worked up toward the ankle.  This process insures a 100% seamless sock, so there are no seams to bug ya!  A form-fitting design also keeps those annoying lumps and bumps out of the socks.

TRULY SEAMLESS
Completely free of seams, our patented product is knit like a cocoon, starting from the toe up, providing comfort and relief to children who struggle with “bumps & lumps” in their socks.

UNIQUE NO HEEL DESIGN

“No heel” design allows children to put on socks with confidence and keeps little feet from outgrowing their socks so quickly.

“HUGS” LITTLE FEET

Stretchy Corespun and Lycra yarns result in a form-fitting design that
“hug” little feet and help eliminate wrinkling and bunching.

NON-BINDING
Non-binding Halo Top™ fits comfortably without slipping down the leg. Regular socks often have elastic bands at the tops of the sock that can often pinch, bind or be a source of irritation.

NO “STINKY FEET”
High-tech fibers whisk away moisture helping ensure a drier and more hygienic sock environment. Antimicrobial benefits help prevent “stinky feet”.

SmartKnitKIDS come in a color for every personality: white, black, pink, purple, and navy.  Ankle, crew and knee-high styles are available up to a youth size 8.  (Retails for $6.95 or less, on sale now for $5.56)

My take:  I love these socks!  They are really soft and worth every penny!  They are so form-fitting that no wrinkles appear and my 18 month old can’t take them off by himself!!  My 3 year old now picks these socks as the ones he wants to wear…thank goodness I have 2 pairs!!

SmartKnit Seamless AFO & KAFO Socks

  • Physician Recommended
  • Form fitting interface specifically sized for AFO and KAFO use
  • Protects skin health
  • Made with wicking, antimicrobial fibers
  • Increase success of orthosis use
  • Provides all-day protection and comfort
SmartKnitBRACE™ seamless socks have proven to help prevent skin problems under plastic braces by reducing wrinkling and bunching, irritation and pressure over the toes, moisture, and bacteria odor problems.

Reduces Wrinkling and Bunching
High Stretch Lycra spandex yarns conform to the anatomy, reducing skin pressure points due to wrinkles, and provide a total contact fit inside the closely fitting brace. The cling factor keeps socks up on the leg instead of sliding down and bunching up under the brace – a common problem when using “store-bought” cotton socks.

Specifically sized for orthosis use, in consultation with clinicians, SmartKnit socks are narrow enough to fit properly without bunching and wrinkling. Socks are also long enough to extend beyond the top of the brace, thereby eliminating problems experienced with socks purchased from department stores. Ordinary socks tend to be too wide and bunch up, causing pressure and discomfort

My take:  Since I am a physical therapist as well, unfortunately I run across AFOs and KAFOs all the time. (Ankle foot orthotics, and Knee Ankle Foot Orthotics).    I have always empathized with children and parents alike because there were no socks that were specifically created for orthotics.  I love these socks as well!  No slippage and love how well they work together with the orthotics.  Two of my pediatric patients will be getting these :)

Therafirm Light Support Ribbed Trouser Socks (RV: $14.95 of less, on sale now for $11.96)

Are specially designed to look like fashionable everyday dress socks with the added benefit of light medically correct graduated support. These super-soft light support trouser socks feature nylon and spandex blend fibers and a non-restrictive band, which provides a comfortable fit for all day wear. The light (10-15 mmHg) support level is often physician recommended for individuals new to support hosiery.

  • Non-restrictive band – helps socks stay up without restricting circulation in the legs for all day comfortable wear
  • Micro-Cool fibers – wick moisture away, keeping you cool and comfortable
  • Reinforced toe for extra durability
  • Fashionable design for everyday wear
  • Made 100% in the USA
  • Nylon and Spandex blend

Hand wash in lukewarm or cold water with mild detergent. Lay flat to dry.

My take:  I know from a therapist’s viewpoint how crucial these compression socks are.  I have heard others talk about how their legs feel less fatigued, improvement of circulation and how there is virtually no swelling of their feet by the end of the day.  I am happy to report the above claims are all true.  I picked the cocoa color and I love the feel and look of these socks.  Looking at them you would have no idea they are good for you too!!  A big thumbs up!

Tired of hearing her son scream “these sock seams keep bugging me,” a mom decided something needed to be done. Every “seamless” sock her son tried had seams in it; there was not a truly seamless sock available. After explaining the frustrating morning routine to countless friends of her son’s struggles with socks, she was finally given the name of Knit-Rite, a textile manufacturer, and contacted them with her request for a seamless kids sock.

After several requests for seamless socks from “desperate” parents, SmartKnitKIDS socks were created.

I would so love and apprecite these socks. My little girl is 6, and she suffers from sensory issues. Our morning sock routine of torture takes 20-30 min. most recently ending wth the socks in the school book bag. I just cant get them on her. I gave up on panties about 4 months ago. She’s completely Comando now. These socks are aprox. $40 for 5 pair. It would be great if we could get a few free pairs to try before we buy. Thanks! Tiff
