Parrot MiniKit Chic Review & Giveaway

Parrot is a global leader in high quality, user friendly wireless devices for mobile phones. The opportunity to review the new MiniKit Chic came at the perfect time because I had just switched from my old cell phone to my new Blackberry Curve.
My daughter and I like to take a poll of what drivers are doing (in addition to driving) when we are stopped at a light. It usually goes something like this:
“phone, phone, texting, eating, just driving, phone, phone, dancing, driving, talking on phone while eating and steering with knees, driving, texting etc…”
In our totally unscientific poll we have gathered that about 3 out of every 5 drivers are usually talking on the cell phone and way too often we see someone texting – scary! I myself, try not to talk on the cell phone for long periods of time while driving but sometimes it is the only time I have to return phone calls. That being said, I actually spend very little time in the car since the company I work for allows me to work from home. For the times when I do have to make a call while in the car, it has crossed my mind that it may be easier to use a hands-free device. I have a bluetooth earpiece that honestly, I have never used. I use an earpiece most of the day while working, so the last thing I want to do on my free time, is put in another earpiece.
I was pleasantly surprised when I open the box that contained the MiniKit Chic. This device is slim, lightweight and stylish! I liked it immediately and could see several possibilities in using it. I charged it up first thing, so that I could give it a try. The device slides easily on your car visor and lays much flatter than a garage door opener. It has never slid off and landed in my lap (which is what always happens with my opener!) so it is secure and lightweight! This device is so easy to set up and simple to use that I could give one to my Mom and feel confident that I would not have to be there to help her use it. Seriously, it almost works all by itself! It easily paired up with my blackberry phone and connected right away. To see if your phone is compatible go HERE. Once I had my phone paired with the MiniKit a voice asked me “Who do you want to call?” ummm well nobody right now, I just clicked the red button to disconnect.
With only three buttons on this device, it is simple to use. I had no problems using the MiniKit and making a couple of calls. You can just say the name of the person you want to call or you can use the center dial to connect to your address book. Since it was so easy for me, I had this great idea to take my daughter out to my car and video tape her for this review. I instructed her to call home and I would catch it on video. She got in the drivers seat, buckled her seat belt (as if I would let a 9 year old actually drive lol!) and pushed the green button. A woman’s voice asked “Who do you want to call?”, Hanna said “Call home!”, the women answered back “I do not understand that name. Who do you want to call?” Hanna said “Call home”. The voice came back “I do not understand that name, who do you want to call?” Hanna screeches “CALL HOME!!!”, I glance around to see how many neighbors were coming outside… Hanna is now yelling at my MiniKit “CALL HOME, I WANT TO CALL HOME” MOM SHE DOESN’T LIKE ME!” “MOM, stop laughing, this is not funny MOM, MOM you are NOT helping!!” The woman’s voice keeps calmly telling my daughter “I do not understand that name.” At this point Hanna also broke into laughter and then the MiniKit Chic started dialing my work number, I told her to push the red button – I think she hit them all. She disconnected the call and then the MiniKit actually dialed our home number. My husband answered and was less than impressed with our squeals of laughter and both of us talking at once – me telling him that we were working on a review and Hanna telling him that there is a women in our car that does not like her! But – he did say he could hear us both very clearly – maybe too clear!
My thoughts: If you are looking for a sleek, stylish, easy to use portable hands-free bluetooth kit then the MiniKit Chic is for you! The great thing about this is that besides being so easy to use in the car is that it works equally well on the counter or clipped to your pocket or belt! As far as the issue with my daughter – I personally think it had something to do with the big wad of bubble gum she had in her mouth at the time. If you want your kids to use the MiniKit, maybe you will want them to throw out the bubble gum first.
