One Step Ahead: Buckle-Pals Seatbelt Strap Holders Review

Now that I have two children in car seats I find myself constantly struggling trying to buckle my children in.  I am forever having to dig behind and around their little bodies for the seatbelt straps.  A product from One Step Ahead has helped me solve that problem.  First a little about One Step Ahead:

The first thing we’d like you to know: we’re not like other children’s companies. For one thing, our parent company, Chelsea & Scott literally is a “parent company!” We were founded by two real life parents, Karen and Ian Scott, who wanted the best for their own children.

Frustrated by products that looked terrific in stores and catalogs, but didn’t live up to their promises, the Scotts traded in Fortune 500 careers to pursue their vision of a different kind of baby company.

A company that subjects its products to tough, hands on testing, by both professional merchandisers and an independent Parents’ Panel. One that does the comparison shopping upfront, and then offers only the top performers. One that tracks down innovative, hard-to-find helpers—and when they can’t be found, has its Design Team create them from scratch.

One that prides itself on outstanding service, so parents can shop with absolute confidence.

For three decades, One Step Ahead has helped new parents navigate the complex baby market. Then in 1989, Leaps and Bounds, a sister catalog geared to children, joined the Chelsea & Scott family. Today, we remain committed to bringing you what parents want: high quality products…ingenious parenting solutions…outstanding service…and the toughest guarantees in the industry.

What are Buckle-Pals Seatbelt Strap Holders:

Stop poking and prodding baby while you search for those elusive harness straps again! With Buckle-Pals, you can hitch those straps neatly off to the side before settling baby in. Fits any highchair, convertible or toddler car seats, and the band is bendable, so you can position the retaining hooks just right. Baby will thank you!  (2 pack retails for $10.95)

My take:  I was initially excited with this product, then frustrated, then happy again.  Let me explain…I put the holders on without any problem (or so I thought).  Within 2 days the holders kept slipping down.  I went to the product’s review section and saw another mom’s posting telling me to check the manufacturer’s website page.  Luckily I kept the box and quickly found that the manufacturer is a company called Dookz.  They must have received quite a few complaints because I quickly saw the section labeled installation help which linked me here which has great pictures and explanations.  I wasn’t bending the straps hard enough.  Now I really like the Buckle-Pals Seatbelt Strap Holders because I no longer have to search for the seatbelt straps!
