ZVOX Audio Review & Giveaway
Have you ever watched someone hook up a surround sound system? If you have a drink and a recliner, it can be pretty entertaining, especially when the person installing it gets frustrated with all the cords that are either exponentially longer than they need to be or they are about 5 inches too short!
Sadly, I speak from experience. I have a surround sound system of my own – I used it without any problems until I moved. Now it sits still packed in its moving box because I don’t want to pollute my living room with cords and speaker stands.
Thankfully, ZVOX Audio heard the cry of so many people like me and developed a system that eliminates the need for cords and speaker stands with an all-in-one surround sound system. ZVOX sent me the amazing ZBase 550 to review. The ZBase was created for those who have a flat screen TV but choose not to mount it on the wall (like me). It’s a three-inch tall box that’s intended to be placed underneath your flat screen TV, which also provides a great location for the best sound quality. I could list all the technical specs and pretend I understand what they all mean, but let me be straight with you….this system is beyond what I expected! I was a little skeptical with the promise of surround sound provided with only one speaker/subwoofer box, but it delivered beyond my expectations! I will shamelessly admit that I truly put this system to the test!
I started with a high-action movie with car chases, intense music, and fight scenes. The ZBase delivered beautiful, crisp and clear audio which I controlled with the provided remote. The remote has separate controls for overall volume, bass, PhaseCue (the surround technology), and treble plus a mute button and an auto-shut off button. As soon as I finished the first movie, I popped in a romantic drama which I’ve always thought had a moving, well-composed soundtrack. I pumped the volume up louder than my neighbors probably appreciated but it was well worth it as the clear compositions made me feel like a part of the movie.
ZVOX openly admits that their all-in-one system is not the same as a 5.1 surround sound system but it gives it a run for its money. For people like me who don’t have a theater in my house, I don’t need all the cords for the separate speakers! I will gladly sacrifice some of the enveloping sound for no cords and an easy installation. There are only 2 cords with the ZBase 550 – one for the power and one to hook to your TV (or cable box/satellite box/DVD player). It was the fastest, easiest installation ever, especially for the technologically incapable, like me!

I could use it in my bedroom, or for school, since I just went back to college.
ZVOX 425xs would be awesome.
I think the ZVOX 315 would fit my needs. Wish I had a nice big flatscreen to hook it up to but this has to be better than my current set up. I would use the mini with my ipod for my second floor. Would be great to listen to my ipod without the headphones.

It’s not out yet, but I really like what I’m reading about the Z-Base 575. A home theatre sound system is the one thing we’re missing in our home entertainment set-up.
I would want the ZVOX 325 because it has no wires, I would put it in our living room under our tv, we have 2 older sound systems but because of wires we do not use and we have no way to run wires without the hassle and mess so we miss out on good quality sound when we watch movies.

i like the zvox 440, never heard of them before but they look great!
ZVOX 325 would be nice, the mini would also be adequate for our needs. Our (nice) flatscreen tv is a name brand but has terrible sound! I bet a lot of people could use a ZVOX since the speakers appear to be inadequate on a lot of newish tvs. I would use it in our living room to supplement our existing set up.
I like the Mini best – it’s nice and small, and pretty cool that it’s so portable too.
I doubt my husband would give up the 5.1 surround sound system he so painstakingly set up in the living room (and I wouldn’t ask him to!), but I’d love to have some decent sound on the tv/dvd player setup I put in our exercise room – so I can actually hear my tv shows while I work out!

wow would this work great at our house, I get blasted out of the room because he can’t hear the TV. This would go in the livingroom since I haven’t been able to buy surround sound system yet. Please give my ears a break. LOL.

I would choose the Z-Base 525 . It’s the smallest.I choose that because it would be in our living room, and its so small, I think that is all we would need.
