dunecraft2-vert

I love teaching my children how something we grow can be used for everyday activities.  Such is the case with DuneCraft’s Sweet Leaf Terrarium.  First a little about DuneCraft:

DuneCraft was born green!  Our products install a love, wonder, and respect for plants and nature!  Experience our Plants that Work-let something else do the heavy lifting.  In addition to appealing to your sense of utilitarianism, these hard-working rascals will keep you in fresh air, soothe your skin, make your tea, and even flavor it for you.  Explore the utility of different plant life with the Desert Biodome and the Sweet Leaf terrarium.  Learn about these fascinating plants and how they can help you.  Our newest science novelties are like none other and we are making more all the time.  Experience “green” the DuneCraft way!

What is the Sweet Leaf TerraritumStevia is a beautiful plant that is as sweet to grow as it is to taste. Grow this amazing plant that is known to produce a sweetener twenty to thirty times sweeter than sugar. The leaves of the Sweet Leaf Plant are up to thirty times sweeter than sugar. The Sweet Leaf Plant is a sub-tropical plant that will grow two to three feet tall. This exceptionally useful plant is easy to sprout and fast to grow. Best of all, you can grow this amazing plant on your windowsill and begin harvesting your first crop within months!

Stevia has been shown to be an exceptional aid in weight management and diabetes diets.  Another advantage over sugar is that sweet leaf contains zero calories, while two teaspoons of sugar contains approximately 50 calories.

My Take:  This product got my 3 year old very excited…of course why wouldn’t it since he gets to play with soil.  The instructions were included and easy to follow and it was neat to see my 3 year old’s eyes light up when I told him he got to plant the seeds.  We have had it for about 1.5 weeks now and the seeds are beginning to sprout.  I like that the plant is enclosed with a lid so little fingers aren’t able to poke or prod until the plant is bigger (after the plant reaches 3″ tall,  you take the lid off) and is able to withstand such torture!  We had alot of fun putting this together and I really enjoyed the opportunity to be able to educate my child about the uses of this plant once it is fully grown.  Another big thumbs up from my family.  The only thing I want to warn you about…they provide extra soil so please forewarn your children you will not use all of it…we had a little meltdown because he thought it all needed to go in.

The Sweet Leaf plant from DuneCraft retails for $14.99.

I have some other great products in the works from DuneCraft that like the Sweet Leaf Plant will take some time to grow, I just wanted to let you know I plan to do a follow-up in a couple of months to let you know the status of these products.

DuneCraft has graciously offered 1 lucky MommyPR winner the chance to own the Sweet Leaf Plant!
