One Step Ahead: Necksaver Review & Giveaway

Both sets of grandparents live far away and it is inevitable that both of my boys will end up falling asleep during the car ride home. Each time I look back at them I have to cringe because both of their little heads are slumped to the side and they look so uncomfortable. As soon as we wake them up to take them into their beds they both start to cry secondary to their little stiff necks. I was able to rectify the situation with the 3 yr old by buying him an animal neck pillow but my poor 16 month old was simply too little for it. One Step Ahead’s Necksaver has saved the day for me! First, as always a little about the company:

The first thing we’d like you to know: we’re not like other children’s companies. For one thing, our parent company, Chelsea & Scott literally is a “parent company!” We were founded by two real life parents, Karen and Ian Scott, who wanted the best for their own children.
Frustrated by products that looked terrific in stores and catalogs, but didn’t live up to their promises, the Scotts traded in Fortune 500 careers to pursue their vision of a different kind of baby company.
A company that subjects its products to tough, hands on testing, by both professional merchandisers and an independent Parents’ Panel. One that does the comparison shopping upfront, and then offers only the top performers. One that tracks down innovative, hard-to-find helpers—and when they can’t be found, has its Design Team create them from scratch.
One that prides itself on outstanding service, so parents can shop with absolute confidence.
For three decades, One Step Ahead has helped new parents navigate the complex baby market. Then in 1989, Leaps and Bounds, a sister catalog geared to children, joined the Chelsea & Scott family. Today, we remain committed to bringing you what parents want: high quality products…ingenious parenting solutions…outstanding service…and the toughest guarantees in the industry.
Also taken from their website: We love this baby travel pillow for its smart, ergonomic design! The plush sides prevent little heads from slumping, but — unlike others — the bulk-free back won’t press on baby’s neck from behind. (Why didn’t anyone think of this sooner?) No harness attachments, so you can use with car seats, strollers, and all your gear. Soft Velboa; machine wash. For newborns-2 years. Colors may vary. Imported. Exclusively Ours!
My take: I love many things about this Necksaver. First off, it is incredibly soft and makes me wish it was bigger so I could use it! I also like the bulk-free back (there is a curve/indent directly behind the neck) which allows for less slumping. I do wish the curve was a little more pronounced though. We have used the Necksaver on car rides and stroller rides when he falls asleep and it works great. I have found out through trial and error that it is much easier to put the Necksaver on once he is asleep because he just takes it off and throws it when he is awake. Another favorite of mine…it is machine washable!!
The Necksaver can be purchased for $12.95 but One Step Ahead is graciously offering 1 lucky MommyPR reader a Necksaver of their own.
